Detroit's Bowl Game canceled after 29 years

I am curious to see what the bowl picture looks like next year

Big year for big ten contracts because pac 12 schools are now using big ten contracts I believe

3rd Bowl to be cancelled this year joining the LA Bowl & The Bahamas Bowl.

Are we going to shift back to 25+ years ago where 6-6 didn’t guarantee you a bowl game? Will it be the expanded playoffs and then just a handful of more well established bowls?
Bowl TV ratings were good this year, at surprising highs for the non CFP bowls. Other host groups may take their spot.

I thought only TV sets tuned in mattered. I was blasted here when I said I thought there should be 10 fewer bowl games.

The Gophers were 3 and 0 in Detroit's bowl. PJ led them to wins in 2023 and 2018. Tracy Claeys led Minnesota to victory in 2015.
Justin Gaard was the sideline reporter in all three games.
We played in the Insight Bowl in Tempe and Music City Bowl in Nashville each three times as well.
Several venues 2X including the Rose Bowl.
The Gophers have had 9 straight bowl wins preceded by 7 straight bowl losses.

I don’t really care but I am not sure this means anything nationally

Until I see some rationale it could be local as much as it could be national
Maybe does maybe does not. No clue.

When’s the last time three bowl games have ceased to exist in the same year?

The Bahamas Bowl closing for good is a crime against humanity. There's a hilarious Reddit post from like 2018-2019 where a guy shares his experience live at the game and it makes you wish your team was there every year. I'll try to find it.

Maybe this will be the motivation PJ needs to win 10-11 games and get us into the playoffs.
