Detroit News: Minnesota may be destined for something special

I haven't always been what would be called a big believer in Minnesota.

The Gophers have been a good story. A solid team, to be sure, with a coach that has been inspiring as he has slowly built Minnesota into a contender.

But even with the Gophers already headed to their third consecutive bowl game and a double-digit win season now a possibility — it would be the team's first since 2003 — the West was still about Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Until now.

This is excellent and I haven't been this excited for a game in ages. This rivalry is a great one and obviously so much better when we're competitive. I get no sense that we're a flash in the pan like those Kansas or Texas Tech from a few years ago. Just keep Tracy around and we'll be in this position a lot more than we've become used to. We won't win the division every year but if we can be competitive or in it ever few years I'll be a happy camper.
