Describe the Niko Medved hire in 1 sentence

Relief! Gophers announce Niko Medved next head mens basketball coach!

Good hire ! Now the U needs to step up and provide the necessary resources for him to be successful.

Our long Minnesota nightmare is over and it's morning in Dinkytown.

As a Gopher fan, living in Colorado, I have seen a consistent winner at CSU.

Medved's teams are disciplined, with consistent shooting at 2's, 3's and free throws. They don't turn it over (11 or less). They seem to overachieve compared to the talent level. He rebuilds quick after losing many starters, 4 starters lost entering 24-25. N Clifford, after struggling at CU for 2 + seasons, he became a go to scorer and NBA prospect under Nico.

G-Evans, F-Johnson, F/C Mbemba are very solid contributing sophmores that hopefully think about following Nico to MN.

On offense, similar to UConn, they set solid picks, move the ball from 1 sideline to the other, and players seem to know their roles. They haven't had shot blockers, but the plus side on that is they don't go for fakes that lead to layups or missed box outs. Similar to Wisconsin.

I am excited for this kind of potential consistency!

That's way more than 1 sentence. ;)

Perspective of the program changes when you hire a coach with a proven track record.

I've only lived in Minnesota for 30+ years, but I feel like I've been on this MN sports roller coaster before...

That's a long sentence, with a surprising number of periods...for a sentence.

Hired a proven winner who can evaluate and develop talent in a drama free environment.

Niko Medved, a Minnesota native with a proven coaching track record, was hired by the Gophers to lead their men's basketball program, returning to his alma mater after a successful tenure at Colorado State.

I'll find a better place to post this.

Good hire, but he needs to hire the best free throw specialist coach to his staff, and practice for all players to make 99%
