Denver leaving Summit League for WCC in 2026-27

My thoughts.

I like the Summit League for St. Thomas (love Sioux Falls for tournament), but it appears to be a sinking ship. Soon 8 teams and NDSU & SDSU seem destined any day now for a move up.

So if we go along with potential rumored UST destinations, there are 3 options:

1. Sit tight with Summit (risky).

2. Go to WCC along with Denver.

3. Join MVC if/when the offer comes.

As much as I like what the Summit League has been for the Tommies, seems to me #3 is the way to go. Not keen at all joining a West Coast league.

And if the A-10 expresses interest, that’s more food for thought.

Make the tournament this year and they will start to gain a lot of traction and become wanted.
