From the first play the Defense came out playing FAST and looked MOTIVATED.
Honestly, I think the crowd picked up on it and very similar to the Penn St. game years ago they realized:
Ho shit we got a good chance for an upset here...
Crowd was already into it but the defense i think set the energy for the nigh early on.

2nd half vs Iowa is really the only time they've looked bad.

The defense has a definite dichotomy between the run and the pass. The pass defense probably is the best I've seen in my time as a Gopher fan. The rushing defense is another matter. Iowa's running game in the second half killed us and USC mauled us pretty badly with their run game. I was happy that USC had to focus almost exclusively on passing due to time constraints in their last drive.
