Tommie Talk and the Gospel of the NET & Torvik
St. Thomas (6-3, 3-5 ATS) drops one spot to #139 in the NET rankings while moving up one to #148 in the Torvik rankings.
Big Sky/Summit Challenge Kicks Off Tonight
The third annual Big Sky/Summit Challenge gets underway tonight with nine games. The #139 (NET) Tommies (6-3) travel to Bozeman to take on #155 Montana State (3-5). UST is 0-2 vs. the Bobcats since joining the Division 1 ranks in 2021-22. The Bobcats are a 3.5-point favorite.
St. Thomas is the only undefeated team from either conference in the first two challenges. Last season the Tommies won 87-75 at Northern Colorado and 88-81 at home over eventual NCAA Tournament qualifier/Big Sky Tournament champion Montana. In the initial 2023-24 challenge, the Toms won 75-67 at Idaho and 63-50 at home vs. Sacramento State.
The conferences will play nine more games on Saturday and Sunday, with the Weber State @ St. Thomas game the only one being played Sunday.

Tuesday Eye-Openers (upsets, importance, MOV, etc.)
-- @ Syracuse 62, Tennessee 60: A much needed "resume" win for the vastly improved Orange.
-- UConn 61, @ Kansas 56: All road wins are like gold, but winning in The Phog is another level.
Dribbles & Scribbles
-- Day1 of the ACC/SEC Challenge produced a 6-3 ACC lead heading into tonight's final matchups. The ACC got key victories from Duke (over Florida), Syracuse (over Tennessee), Notre Dame (over Missouri), and North Carolina (@ Kentucky).
-- Duke's win over Florida gives the Blue Devils the nation's longest home winning streak at 22, one ahead of St. Thomas.
-- The win by Duke + Michigan State's Big Ten opening win over Iowa set the stage for Saturday's Blue Devils/Spartans undefeated matchup at the Breslin Center (11/FOX). Can the Spartans complete a 3-game sweep of college basketball royalty (Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke)?

Is it too early to start paying attention to William & Mary? The Tribe is 6-2 and #61 in the NET rankings. W&M is one of only three original Division 1 schools to never make the NCAA Tournament, joining Army and The Citadel.
St. Thomas (6-3, 3-5 ATS) drops one spot to #139 in the NET rankings while moving up one to #148 in the Torvik rankings.
