Dribbles & Scribbles
-- Denver picked up a nice 86-79 road win at Northern Colorado, who earlier this season were the victim of Minessale's beyond-half-court game-winning buzzer beater. It appears we have another team in play for the Summit League regular season title, as the Pioneers for now join UST and North Dakota State as my frontrunners. The Tommies open league play at home vs. the Pioneers on Jan. 3.
-- We're down to six undefeated teams after Duke's loss to Texas Tech. Still standing are #1 Michigan, #2 Arizona, #5 Iowa State, #9 Vanderbilt, #11 Nebraska, and #74 Miami-Ohio.
-- State of Minnesota NET rankings through Dec. 20:
St. Thomas #111
Minnesota #121
-- The final in-season bracketed tournament of the season kicks off tonight in El Paso, TX. The Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational pits North Dakota State vs. UC-Irvine at 6 p.m. (YouTube) and host UTEP vs. Norfolk State at 8:30 p.m. (YouTube and/or ESPN+).
-- The Summit League is winless (0-14) vs. Power 5 (+ Gonzaga) opponents, one of 15 conferences with no such victories.

Deep Thoughts, by Buzz Studley
Crash goes the at-large hopes for Santa Clara. The Broncos had the makings of a solid tournament resume, but that pretty much got flushed down the toilet when you lose to an awful squad like Loyola-Chicago. That’s a loss from which it will be nearly impossible for the Broncos to recover.
