Dribbles & Scribbles
-- With Denver leaving the Summit League next season for the West Coast Conference, non-conference scheduling becomes even more of a nightmare for Summit coaches. Unless the Summit unexpectedly adds a new member this summer, coaches now will have 18 non-conference schedule slots to fill instead of 15. Starting in 2026-27 schools can schedule 32 games instead of 31.

Most Summit teams already are playing three non-Division I opponents, way too many. Would like to see that number get down to one or two at most. Better yet, somehow find two schools to make the Summit a 10-team league. That's a perfect number for basketball scheduling, but the question is, who? There doesn't appear to be any interest. Just spit-balling, how about Lindenwood and/or SEMO (Southeast Missouri State) from the Ohio Valley Conference?

-- The American has a pair of significant resume opportunities tonight, with Memphis hosting undefeated Vanderbilt and USF traveling to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. The conference is staring straight in the face a second consecutive season without an at-large bid.

Deep Thoughts, by Buzz Studley
Any chance veteran Kansas City head coach Marvin Menzies is mostly just cashing a paycheck? The Roos are on a serious downward trend the last couple seasons and showing no signs of snapping out of it.
