Edit: Apologize for the missed letter in his name. Should be Taiyon.

247 sports and rivals don't show any other offers or that he has even been rated.

Visited UCF before coming to Minnesota. I think he is a preppy.

Project?

Looks like a receiver to me....

Somehow Kamal Martin is 6'3" 233 lbs. and he's viewed as a LB. Yet Devers is a 215 lb DE?

When do we start recruiting 230-250 lb defensive ends that can bulk up to 250-270 and hold the edge? Does the staff realize we need someone to rush the passer in 9 months?

Perhaps someone can correct the spelling of his name on this thread. I assume he's one of those typical late risers the staff loves, because he's got no other offers or star ranking. He looks pretty athletic, he'll need to bulk up a bit though. Welcome aboard!

Rivals lists him at 225. I think Devers is for sure a redshirt candidate.

The staff likes smaller but quicker DE and I don't expect that to change too much.

Looks like a project. Hope we can get a JUCO DE in.

Unlikely to find pass rushers just laying around like the ones you just described. Gotta grow them.

According to Matt H on the Daily Gopher, he's only been playing football for two years, there's a lot of upside, after he's rated we should overtake Iowa in recruit ranking.

I'm confident they know their needs intimately more than anyone on GH.

That I would agree with. It's their jobs on the line, not me, so I'll trust they are doing the best they can. The proof, as we know, is in the pudding. But I think Claeys actually has done a good job with the recruiting so far. Will be interesting to see how different next year looks.

TC was a good recruit at the time. We were coming off a 3-9 season and the program was at rock bottom. He turned into a 3-year starter on teams that won 8,8, and 5 games. If you think the last 3 years are as good as it gets, then by all means continue to recruit players like this. If you want us to win the west in the next 4 years, we need to outrecruit and land some of the big boys like Lucas and Watts.

I think we are taking 23/24 recruits this year. It's fine with me if we take a couple of projects with a lot of upside potential. Devers has apparently only played football two years, so he's still raw, raw heck, he's still on the vine. When you evaluate the staff's ability to see talent, you need to also consider that, they definitely were right on Murray.

The OP can "Go advanced".
