De-committed

It is pretty interesting.

I guess the Haughton-James thing makes sense, we have a lot of OL and there are still a couple more decent young OL in this area that we might be interested in.

I am a little surprised about Rohr as he seems to be a pretty good fit for what Kill likes to do. He has good size (he'll probably play at 240-245) and he could probably play H-Back or TE, and those are both positions that we are a little lean at (even if Westeraus is going to play offense).

It could just be a simple fact of different coaches looking for different things and Kill not being overly impressed with these guys. It could also be that they just lost interest, but it does appear to have a feeling of being "forced out". I don't think that sits too well for me, I really think you should honor your commitments, especially considering that these two guys have stuck by the U through all of our issues this season.

You have to do what is right for both sides. If a player doesn't fit the scheme you have to let them know that and encourage them to look around. Football players that accept scholarships expect to play eventually. If you bring someone in that doesn't fit and isn't likely to ever contribute it is a waste of a scholarship for us and 2-3 years down the road that player is going to be looking around for a new opportunity. It is best to avoid that now by being honest and direct.

agreed!

Couldn't agree more. It would be a different situation if he were running off players because they weren't as highly rated as players he wanted to bring in (like a Lane Kiffin or a Calipari), but encouraging a player to look elsewhere because they really don't fit your system and wouldn't find success here is totally fine. Still doesn't feel great, but I think in the end is for the best.

Why are you here? Honestly, how pathetic do you have to be to troll a 3-9 college football team?

You obviously are not here to actually read the threads. Almost everyone in this thread has been kind of baffled by the Rohr de-committ and against the idea of us "forcing him out".

One person questioned whether or not he fit Kill's system, but he didn't question on whether or not Rohr was any good.

The thread also evolved into one on forcing kids out in general.

I am here for the entertainment, just like everyone else. Why do you post on a message board?

What does trolling mean?

Who decided that only the fans of a particular team could post on a message board. Is that rule in some internet book that I have never read? If you are in a bar having a conversation about a team, are only fans of that team allowed to offer opinions?

My post was simple and not provocative in any way. I do love recruiting for the reason stated.

I read the entire thread.

The question is why would you get entertainment out of posting on a Gopher football related message board?

I post on here because I am a Gopher fan and I care about the ins and outs of the programs. If I posted on another team's message board all the time, yeah it would be weird.

Trolling is what you do.

No one says that you can't post, they are saying that it is weird that you are posting on this message board. It is one thing if it is Gopher-Badger week, but to be posting on another team's site in the middle of January is obsessive.

Your bar analogy is illogical. It isn't the same as having a discussion with somebody at a bar. It would be the same as if I went to a Packer Bar in the Cities just to scream and yell about how much I hate the Packers It isn't about having a different opinion for those kinds of people (or you), it is about you wanting attention.

If you read the entire thread there is absolutely no way you would have come to the conclusion that everyone was saying that Rohr wasn't good enough to play for the Gophers. If you actually read the entire thread, that is just further proof that you are a troll.

Are you serious? The header for this forum on the main page states, rather explicitly:

"The "6 National Titles Football Forum" is the place where Gopher football fans gather to talk about the team, recruiting and the program's march back to Pasadena."

Call me silly, but I'd say not being a Gopher football fan means you are not welcome to post here.

If you are in a bar having a conversation about a team, are only fans of that team allowed to offer opinions?

What a ridiculous analogy. If I hear two Badger fans in a bar talking about f*cking dead animals and killing U of M students, I would probably throw in my two cents, but I'm not going to go to Buckyville and explain to all the deer humpers how my program's accomplishments put theirs to shame. I mean, it doesn't even make any sense. I still say that caring so much about your enemy's team means your life is seriously lacking some sort of fulfillment.

Because I live in the Twin Cities and I like football, I am fairly knowledgeable on the Vikings. Now I can't say I'm a fan of the Vikings, but I do enjoy talking about them and I often find myself in the standard "Viking Barroom Conversation."

If I lived in a different city, it would be in my best interests to become knowledgeable on the local college team (if they have one). College football is fun to talk about and it's nice to know what's relevant where you are. If I lived in another B10 city, that would be an added bonus.

So do I remember correctly that GV Badger is from Golden Valley? Or did I just make that up?

Bottom line - I don't give a fuk what GV Badger does. I'm not defending him. I'm not taking him bowling, renting him shoes or buying him a fuking beer. But MNBoiler provides valued insight on the hoops board, so I'm not opposed to "visitors."

I have no interest in Gophers, as many of you know they are pathetic rodents who destroy all my beets. I have come on to this message board to find out more about my enemy, the gopher.

I don't think it was gophers. I'd keep an eye on Mose, that fella's creepy.

I could walk into someones BBQ at Lake Harriet, after all, I'm just there for the entertainment and discussion like everyone else enjoying the BBQ. It's a public place, and I have a right to be there DAMNIT!

But when it becomes crystal clear that I am not welcome at the BBQ, and the other guest told me I was acting like a jackass just by being there, I would probably leave the area. And I wouldn't stop by in a 1/2 hour to see if the tenor of the group had changed.

Is there food here that I have been missing?

The question is why would you get entertainment out of posting on a Gopher football related message board?

Trolling is what you do.

I get entertainment out of it because I grew up in the Twin Cities, have lived here most of my life and I used to be a Gophers fan. I probably have been to more Gophers sporting events then many people on this board.

Fortunately, I then went to Madison for school and became a Badgers fan. Not only was Madison a lot of fun, but it saved me from 35 years of misery as a Gophers football fan.

However, if you live in the Twin Cities and pay attention to the sports scene at all, it is almost impossible not to follow the Gophers to some extent, because the are constantly in the news, for one thing or another.

I still don't understand the trolling comment. What the heck does that mean? I have opinions on Gophers sports and I share them, as does everyone else. Mine don't always agree with others on the board. That's what makes the world go around. It would be very boring if everyone agreed all of the time. In general though, some of the stuff posted on here is simply too good to ignore, so once in a while I chime in. If anyone has a problem with it, there is a simple solution. Don't read my posts.

Have a good one.

No one has a problem with people disagreeing with them on this board, that is precisely why we are here. But when the person is coming from your standpoint, it is trollish. You are a Badger fan so your point of view is going to always be skewed. We get it, you love the Badgers. You felt the need to troll this board the day the Badgers were in the Rose Bowl.

No one cares how much fun you had in Madison, most of us who went to college had fun where we went.

I know this seems to be over your head, but there is a difference between being on a "Big 10 Football Board" and talking and disagreeing and being on Gopherhole. For a Badger fan to be living on a Gopher football message board, it's pathetic and the definition of a troll.

Now, if you are really trying to sell this BS about you living near Gopher football and being interested in it through osmosis and you are just trying to talk football, then why don't you do that? Look at your post in this thread. It was illogical and it was entirely used to try to be clever. If you are going to come to a message board and troll, at least have the guts to admit what you really are.

So keep posting away, no one is going to stop you. Oh, and if you don't like people blasting your posts for being the drivel of a Gopher-obsessed troll, there is a simple solution. Don't read those posts.

You switched your team? sorry, real fans don't do that.
