DB run support


Did you stop to think that our db's were busy covering 4-5 wide outs today???
 

U2, you're absolutely right. The way our DB's were forced to cover there was no way for them to provide consistent run support.
 

That is the idea of the spread offense

Spread out the defense, and make the DBs have to do coverage first and support second.

Would have been nice if, while not providing run support (which, against NW doesn't much matter) the DBs had been covering wide-outs. I saw no such evidence, however.
 


So what was the excuse the the DB play against the AFA pitch option and Cal's speed?
