Grimes did have a nice year (44-696-7), but also was suspended for their final game for violating university rules.

Perhaps this is tongue-in-cheek and I apologize if so, but after his redshirt year in 2015, he was a backup to the Big Ten QB of the Year in 2016 and 2017 (J.T. Barrett) and left so he didn't have to be the backup to the 2018 Big Ten Player of the Year in Dwayne Haskins.

It's debatable that he'd be a starter next year?

Who would start over him?

IMO I think he'd be our #2 option next year ahead of CAB. Much bigger and more athletic and I think if he were here with Simon and Fleck's coaching, he would end up not too far off from how Johnson and Bateman turned out.

We'll never know, but I think CAB could have beat him out, but he'd probably be getting serious run even if he didn't start.
