Opening Rant: It's 2024...the University of MN has been doing press conferences for 100 years.
I'll be generous...probably 25 years ago they added video versus just newspaper accounts.
It would be nice if they could add the sound of the person asking the question...I mean it is easy to do...i assume the press conferences are in the same place each time. If not...why not?
The person asking the question speaks for a minute of silence or muffled sound. The coach or player answers and you have no idea what it's in reference to that they are responding.
And the players in the video are Annika Stewart and Mara Braun for anybody wondering.
Watching New Mexico Pitino press conferences is much more enjoyable and professional. Be nice if we could get similar production.
Couple of takeaways:
Mara Braun has not played a game since January. She didn't say it....but she did...she's anxious to see how she responds physically.
Coach P said we are quicker, more disruptive defensively...I believe her sort of....we are stronger and more experienced. But the first attribute that comes to mind with GG, Sophie, Mallory, Mara and Amaya is not quickness. So? Is the depth quicker? Probably. Is the team more experienced overall? Yes, but I don't see us being quick. Hope it is true.
Alexsia, McKenna, Tori might be quick and it is a strength for Holloway but a lot of talk and emphasis about us being quicker by Coach P. Hope she's right but skeptical the first group is.
Also talked about how Mara needs to do a better job of scoring in critical situations. Suggested how she could do that with strength, awareness etc. I'd say floor balance and some screens would be more helpful to Mara getting some open looks than strength or ball handling. We had zero set plays or actions to get her open looks. "We got you the ball...do something." was the strategy last year. I hope that's not it this year....but it sounded like it might be.

Refreshing to finally have a coach that can intelligently respond to questions. Major upgrade than her predecessor. 20 wins last season and much more depth to work with this season. Gophers WBB finally seem to be heading in the right direction. Also nice to see clips of a coach mic'd up and leading a practice.

Yeah I am excited for this team and the depth. I don't think coach P ever wants to be in a situation like last year. I do think we need to pick up on the recruiting for next year and beyond. However, a good year will help with getting talent from the transfer portal too.Refreshing to finally have a coach that can intelligently respond to questions.
