Rickert and Humphries signed LOI's elsewhere and only came back when it became known they could run the program.
You can rationalize it any way you choose to suit your agenda, but the fact is that neither of those players suited up or played college basketball for any school other than the University of Minnesota. Period.
When I'm talking top players it's not John Thomas?????? It's the Khalid's of the world.
Oh, so when you said "Top 100 players", what you really meant was "Top players according to the Gospel of Duthasmon Smith"? Good to know.
I love the argument we don't want to talk about football or baseball recruiting cuz this is a bb forum. Could it be because EVERY top 20 recruit in the history of the state has turned their backs on their home state from a FB standpoint?
The recruiting histories of the football and baseball programs at Minnesota have as much to do with Tyus Jones as David Cutcliffe has to do with Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith, Kyrie Irving, Austin Rivers, etc., etc.
Oh and that list of top 100 players. I would LOVE to see the recruiting site that listed all of those players as top 100 recruits.
Did you happen to notice the "?" behind each of the pre-2002 players (except Przybilla)? That is because they pre-dated the commonly accepted recruiting sites like Rivals and Scout. It would be difficult to come to a consensus on these types of players, but it is certain that all were players with multiple high-major offers, and could be considered in the discussion for top 100 for their respective seasons. What is unquestionable is that, by any standard, Humphries, Rickert and Przybilla were all top 100 players. Unless, of course, in the case of Przybilla, you'd like to make the argument that a McDonald's All-American isn't a top 100 player, which I would love to hear. But, then again, none of these players suit your agenda, so they don't count, right?
OR how about this; build a facility, win some games, have a coach that signs his contract and then GIVE the kid a reason to think this is a place for him to have not just personal success (Rickert, Humphries) but team success.
That's all the easier it is? Why hasn't anyone thought of this before? Alert the media!
