OK, now that that's out of the way, what's the scoop on who will be replacing Dasher in MTSU's backfield? I'm having nightmares of Mike Kafka running for 200+ yards already....

How's that poor thing going to survive in the TN heat?

Since we're talking about football, Dasher's backup would have to be Blitzen.

Logan Kilgore will most likely be the starter. He is a JUCO transfer. This would be his first time playing as a Blue Raider. He looked impressive in the spring game, fwiw. We will see soon enough.

That is funny, right there! Yes, we all have visions of Kafka but I am going to go out on a limb and say it won't be nearly that bad.

Line on game changed 6 points with loss of Dasher

Vegas has no respect for Logan Kilgore. Did he even start on his high school football team?

Looking at his film, I hope he continues to throw across his body when he rolls. One more thing...does Stockstill have a weight program? I see Kilgore went from 195lbs in 2009 to a whopping 178lbs in 2010 (a 17lb weight-loss). On a 6'3" frame, that's not much. Do you have a back-up for Kilgore?

Stockstill just said on a local station 104.5 that he will name the starter tomorrow. I would be surprised if it wasn't Kilgore. They were hoping to redshirt both backups. If Kirksey can knock out Kilgore the Dasher incident will cost them two redshirts.

It's not highly likely that they would be able to redshirt both the the backups, at some point the starter is going to need to be out for a little bit. They might consider going with QB #4 (no I don't mean Favre!) if the game is out of hand one way or another. Burning two redshirts would be awfully costly.

With the help of Santa, we now know

You might wanna check the depth chart again, Blitzen is clearly a defensive specialist and buried on the bottom of the qb depth chart.

It's Dancer. Wasn't she frequenting these boards for awhile under the name: "dances4raiders".

Upon further research, she moonlights as the Murfreesborough weather girl.

Here's some YouTube video of him at Bakersfield College. You can watch it, or a better option: you can just play it, turn up the volume, and then walk away from your computer while you listen to the song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1VjsuwvntU

Here is what I saw in alot of those highlights:

1. Lots of throws across his body and across the field. That won't work most of the time in D1 ball.

2. Many completions were where he threw it up for grabs and his receiver took the ball away from the DB. It helps having a receiver that is obviously more talented than the DB for balls like this.

3. He was faster and more elusive than I thought he would be.

4. Not much of a rush on him and the d-lines he faced appeared to be pretty small (i.e. easy to see over the top). Not to mention they didn't look too fast either.

5. Perhaps the biggest thing I saw (and Weber critics will recognize this), I didn't see more than a few times where he went somewhere other than his first option. Lots of staring down his receivers. Once again, easy to get away with this in JUCO, not so much in D1 (ask Weber).

All in all thought its hard to take away much from highlight videos in JUCO. We will see next week how he responds. I just don't want to see a repeat of the Illinois game last year or the Kafka game. We always seem to do poorly against back-ups.

I'm concerned the backup will be Dancer. Everyone knows that Dancer moves well in the pocket and is very difficult for d-line to sack. Dancer is famous for being able to side step the rush and buy time in the pocket. Since nobody can be really sure, I will get you a short recap on all the backups:

•Dasher - won't be suited up due to a gambling/check stealing/etc. fiasco
•Dancer - described above. Moves well in the pocket but lacks mental toughness. Will cry if things aren't going his way.
•Prancer - Also moves well in the pocket but often attempts to do more than what he is capable of. This conceit often leads to poorly thrown interceptions.
•Vixen - Really likes to play rough but will be sidelined for at least the Gopher game and unfortunately maybe beyond with a venereal disease
•Comet - Not nearly enough experience and only used in blowouts during clean up time
•Cupid - Can really sling the ball like an arrow but gets mentally overburdened by the matchups in the secondary
•Donner - not available due to transfer rules. Must sit out a year after transferring from Wisconsin. Been known to throw a "party" where human flesh is consumed. The last thing MTSU needs is another investigation
•Blitzen - as already stated, moving to the MTSU "D" in hopes of providing some sort of spark
•Rudolf - On injured list due to sore ribs. Sort of the "Rudy" figure on the team. All the Raiders love him.

Clearly, MTSU has one of the more difficult backup qb situations in the nation.

2009 Southern California National Northern Confrence MVP?

Typed it as I read it.

Hard to understand even before the spelling.

We do have a Blissard at WR. . .

But the Gophers shouldn't have a problem keeping him in check. You guys battle blizzards 10 months out of the year, right?

Exactly. In Minnesota, we are ALWAYS colder than our average temperature. And our guys look super slow because they have to run through the snow between early September and mid July.

Hahahahahaha ha haha ha ha.

Sorry, I just had to get that out.

I think Kilgore would be a great backup. He's already learned ALOT from Stockstill and he did look good in the Spring Game. He's a VERY accurate passer. By the way, Rescooter...it's "Murfreesboro." And yes dpodoll, he runs a 4.5.

A 6 point swing for a starting QB is pretty standard. In this case, I'm really surprised that it's not more than that considering the apparent disparity between Dasher and Kilgore. 7 or 8 wouldn't have surprised me. 3 points for home field advantage and 6 points for the starting QB are two things that are pretty common standards if I'm not mistaken.

On that note, the LV Hilton took the game off the board yesterday or late the day before at MTSU (-3) and it's finally back up on the board today at Minnesota (-3).

Kicking myself for not taking MN when they were (+4.5) for a few weeks.

Here is a thread from MTSU's board; it's a pretty good read. You have a mix of posters...some say that Kilgore is better than Dasher already and others are saying he has looked good but he hasn't seen true live actions. One also says that their coach said both backups were well behind Dasher in terms of running the offense. Check it out.

Link to Channel 4 News in Nashville. This is the first time Donnell (who accused Dasher) has been on camera. I'm pretty sure the Boro hates him now. #1-He claims he didn't want Dasher to get in trouble, but he started everything. #2-He now apparently doesn't want his money back.
The dude is nuts. Just thought you guys would want to see this. Oh and BTW, have you ever noticed that local news channels ALWAYS pick either the most ignorant or useless person to interview??? Yea, well that's also in here. Ignore the student speaking. He probably has never even been to a game.

He seemed a little nervous to be on camera...but how can you make any other insinuations than that? Simply because he thinks it is appropriate that MTSU held Dasher to an NCAA standard?

Dance, you know what tickets look like for this game...is it suppose to sell out? I'm wondering if I should get my ticket in the next few days, rather than walkin up to the ticket office the day of the game.

I think I read that Kilgore only threw like a dozen balls in H.S.? Something about behind the coaches kid? So no varsity h.s. experience and only one year in juco...yikes. I guess you could compare it to Greg Paulus, but he played all through H.S. and was regarded as one of the top prep qbs in the country, also he had Mike Williams to throw to (now a starting wr for tampa bay) and although he played well most of the game he still gave it away with the int in overtime.

pretty sure dasher and blitzen were both starters. technically, backups not named.

Somewhere in here you forgot that:

1) Dasher TOOK THE MONEY
2) TAKING THE MONEY constituted a loss of amateur status
3) Dasher TOOK THE MONEY
4) Dasher TOOK THE MONEY
5) Dasher TOOK THE MONEY
6) Dasher TOOK THE MONEY
7) etc., etc., etc.

No one held a gun to his head. He knew exactly what he was doing. He figured no one would believe a 80 year old man in a VA hospital.

DASHER TOOK THE MONEY.

Clear now?

Thats not the entire story. Im sure there is LOTS more to it. So dont hate unless you know ALL of the facts. And since the ticket office isnt doing the student ticket/voucher thing, I dont think it will be a sellout. Crowded? Definitely. But not a sellout. Im looking forward to the game.
