Daniels in portal

I would bet that this is a situation where the player felt he was worth more than the NIL deal he was offered.
But what P4 school would guarantee a part time lineman starter enough NIL money to make him transfer from a Big Ten school where he is likely to start?

It’s tampering when it happens to us!
Yeah right, especially when it’s highlighted as an innocent positive that an early portal commit to the Gophers has previous ties to an assistant coach on staff or something like that. As if that situation isn’t ripe for, well his number is still in my phone and we just picked up an old text thread from a couple years ago …Hmmmm…

I’d be shocked if he ends up anywhere other than Ohio State.

Well, no idea what the NIL situation is, but this frees up some $$$.

Can't go all CIA on these guys because they got recruited in the past...

And really it's not that weird that a guy might chose someplace with a coach he already got along with.

You never know, you do see guys enter the portal and not end up leaving. Probably 95% chance he is gone, but sliver of optimism since he didn’t insta commit somewhere yet like many do.

Between, recruiting, cell phones, social media, texting, 7v7, camps, showcases, training facilities, etc. etc. The players and coaches all have fingertip access all the time and it's pretty simple that there is little to nothing that can be done to stop communication.

Kids get 4-6 years to really live life and go to schools they wouldn't, be coached by multiple coaches, get school paid for, make money by shining light on their sport and school. I really don't have issues with it.

Fixing the calendar is about all that really needs to be done. Unfortunately, that is hard when kids want/need to find a school by early to mid-January to continue education. Now the season leaks further into January. 80 teams are still playing or preparing for games. Another 4 FCS teams are still playing. There are still 2 D2 and 4 D3 teams playing and players are leaving and joining these teams as I type. Not sure what the fix is.

I think ASU coach gets it and has some of the solution. Allow players to leave if they want and support those that mutually want to stay and participate while finding their next landing spot. Work with academics to make sure kids can land at their next spot.

Maybe another Big Ten School?

I’m saying he’s not supposed to know an OSU offer would be available. So it’s pretty risky to gamble a starting gig for a maybe offer from someone closer to home.
Doubt that Phillips is a risk taker. I suspect that he is being viewed, because of his youthful starting role, as the next Ersery-type developmental talent on the MN OL. And he is going to cash in.

I saw the same. Some suggesting tampering going on.
.... and if that's true, who exactly will be taking OSU to task? You know, many of these guys, if not all of them and most certainly any high profile players, have agents working for them now and those are the people in contact with interested schools.

I seriously doubt the Ohio State or any SEC program is interested.

Yet another instance in which "Jack jones" doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground? I'm shocked!
