There is nowWhy isn't there a thread on his sideline catch?
That was probably the play of the game, complete awareness, he completely schooled the CB on that catch. Amazing play...
There were comments about it in one or more threads. As I stated in another thread, it was very Tyler Johnson like. Why isn't there a thread on his sideline catch?

Jackson is taught to do that on purpose. Did anyone watch the game or the play? They talked about it for a long time. I'm going to start a thread called (geezus!?!) "Daniel Jackson" to discuss it.Amazing catch, but was such an odd sequence. Ball was underthrown and the Illinois DB clearly wasn't tracking DJ's eyes as he almost gave up on the play. Wondering if Jackson slowing down to meet the ball gave the DB a sense that the play was over and/or behind him.
I understand they are taught to do that, I just felt him decelerating at the end had far more impact. His eyes were tracking the ball already, but it seemed like the DB was clueless. Amazing catch regardless, not looking to debate that. I didn't hear any commentary, was watching from a bar killing time between my kids' basketball tournament games.Jackson is taught to do that on purpose. Did anyone watch the game or the play? The beauty of that pitch and catch is you put the DB in a very difficult situation if you execute it properly. The DB is forced to try and either minimize the YAC or go over the back and risk a Pass interference call. Anyway, a very veteran move by both Brosmer and Jackson.I understand they are taught to do that, I just felt him decelerating at the end had far more impact. Cris Carter 2.0I liked what one of the announcers said about him during the game: he might lead the nation in "combat catches." That was his term for catching the ball while wearing a defender on your back, shoulder, etc. He probably hasn't received enough acclaim for that. He's not the fastest receiver, or the greatest route runner, but he has great hands and holds onto the ball in situations where he is facing significant resistance.
I'm honestly not sure I can remember a play quite like that. Receivers show their hands late to make it tough for the DB to know when the ball is coming but to have the DB completely fooled like that is rare.....I mean you watch on the video and the DB had no clue Jackson had the ball until after he caught it.Amazing play! Super smart by Jackson! Kept his hands down til ball was there, completely lulled the DB! Daniel has really become a great WR!!! Loved the combat catches comment. Guy fights for the ball and makes great plays!!!
I suspect that Jackson slowing up just slightly gave the DB the "pass not going here play not here" vibe. But yeah maybe the hands too.Amazing play! Super smart by Jackson! I'm not sure that Jackson could have sold that any better than he did. DB was in pretty tight coverage but he had no clue the ball was coming. Bad awareness on his part but most of the credit for that has to go to Jackson for how he ran the route.I suspect that Jackson slowing up just slightly gave the DB the "pass not going here play not here" vibe. At least once. It wasn't Max's best day, there were opportunities to turn that squeaker into a blow out. On the other hand Max also played safe with the ball. He’s an absurd player. Reminds me of decker for whatever reason.
Did Max miss him twice in the end zone? Was watching at a party but looked like he’d of had 2 TDs with better throws?
The miss on the opening drive was pretty bad, Jackson was wide open and Max just made a bad throw. The second one wasn't quite as bad and the coverage was better but a better throw would have led to a TD in both cases. At least once. First one he had a step or 2 and Max led him a bit too much. 2nd one, he was double covered but a possible connection if Max drops a perfect dime in there. Tough throw. He’s an absurd player. Reminds me of decker for whatever reason.

Agreed. I bet there was special emphasis on this.At least once. It wasn't Max's best day, there were opportunities to turn that squeaker into a blow out. On the other hand Max also played safe with the ball.
It’s hard to say how he’ll translate. Typically, guys who don’t get great separation struggle at the NFL level unless they are big. That said, Jackson really is a craftsman and I wouldn’t bet against him.He makes a highlight catch every week. I do have a question though. Does he get “open” enough for the next level? Seems like maybe he doesn’t separate very often.
Okay, let me have it!
I feel like he wasn’t good at this when he first arrived here and easily got muscled off the ball on contested plays. Crazy how he’s developed.I liked what one of the announcers said about him during the game: he might lead the nation in "combat catches."
