Daniel Jackson

Why isn't there a thread on his sideline catch?

That was probably the play of the game, complete awareness, he completely schooled the CB on that catch. Amazing play...
There were comments about it in one or more threads. As I stated in another thread, it was very Tyler Johnson like.

Amazing catch, but was such an odd sequence. Ball was underthrown and the Illinois DB clearly wasn't tracking DJ's eyes as he almost gave up on the play. Wondering if Jackson slowing down to meet the ball gave the DB a sense that the play was over and/or behind him.

Jackson is taught to do that on purpose. Did anyone watch the game or the play? They talked about it for a long time. I'm going to start a thread called (geezus!?!) "Daniel Jackson" to discuss it.

I liked what one of the announcers said about him during the game: he might lead the nation in "combat catches." That was his term for catching the ball while wearing a defender on your back, shoulder, etc. He probably hasn't received enough acclaim for that. He's not the fastest receiver, or the greatest route runner, but he has great hands and holds onto the ball in situations where he is facing significant resistance.

I understand they are taught to do that, I just felt him decelerating at the end had far more impact. His eyes were tracking the ball already, but it seemed like the DB was clueless. Amazing catch regardless, not looking to debate that. I didn't hear any commentary, was watching from a bar killing time between my kids' basketball tournament games.

The beauty of that pitch and catch is you put the DB in a very difficult situation if you execute it properly. The DB is forced to try and either minimize the YAC or go over the back and risk a Pass interference call. Anyway, a very veteran move by both Brosmer and Jackson.

We were waiting for you to start one.

It was a great play.
