Dan Dakich...what a turd!!

ESPN could save some money and just play 40 minutes of fart noises instead of using Dan Dakich.

I know I'm in the minority, but he was bugging me last night too:

1. I didn't know that Andre Ingram was a walk-on (he said it twice).

2. The rambling about the practice facility was over the top....he was totally being a shill for Tubby...he did it the last game he called with the Gophers as well. I also appreciate the comment similar to "They need to build a practice facility if they are going to be as big time as they think they are...." Nice.

3. He shouldn't do IU games, just like Jimmy Jackson shouldn't do OSU games and Eddie Johnson shouldn't do Illinois games.

Selective listening by some of you. He basically gave props to the play of the Gophers, the Barn, and the fans all night long. Enjoy the win and quit trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I did laugh when Rodney Williams got that big block on Zeller and Dakich was going crazy about how great of a job Oladipo did to get back on the fast break even though he fouled Andre Hollins in the process of getting back. It was just really odd.

Count me as a fan of Dan Dakich. I watched the broadcast after I got home from the game last night and thought the Espn crew did a great job.

I thought he did a good job last nite with the call...I have seen him a lot worse and I was worried when he had the game. You can really tell that he is an Indiana guy though when he does a game with all the good things says about the team...he really is a HOMER!

I though Dakich and Tirico did a nice job. Dakich doesn't sugar-coat things, which is refreshing.

Tirico is simply one of the best in the business.

not true.....his job is to call the game, not to make unfounded predictions

As a color commentator, his job is not be objective, rather his job is add a little color to the commentary. Mike Tirico's job is to call the game. Dakich was spot on all game; especially pointed out that Ahanmisi and Rodney not protecting the top of the key when Sheehey had a coast-to-coast uncontested dunk.

I agree. That was weird.

I'd listen to Dakich anytime over whatever the BT throws at us. Just keep motor mouth Dickey V away.

I'd pay $199 for a full season of the ESPN College GASketball Season Ticket if it meant I could listen to a fart track every game instead of the verbal diarrhea coming from any announcer they currently employ.

I think Dakich is pretty awesome overall. I do get sick of guys announcing games for their alma mater, but he is fair and enlightening.

Anybody who follows this team and objectively assessed the game situation would recognize that it was a reasonable assertion.

I thought Dakich did a nice job. You point out the comment that "this feels like a steal", but he also said earlier in the game something like " If Indiana zones this out of bounds, they are going to be down 3". Sure enough, Andre Hollins hits a 3 and the Gophers go up 3 at that point.

My only major criticism of Dakich from last night was acting like Indiana was making a mistake going zone while never mentioning Minnesota's well chronicled struggles against the zone this season.

I think Dakich is a treat. His insights on the game remind me of Tim McCarver in baseball.

Please do not compare Dakich to Tim McCarver. I thought Dakich did a reasonably good job this time around, but there are times when he is truly unbearable to listen to. McCarver on the other hand is one of the best color commentators ever, in any sport. The man is absolutely a baseball genius.

You're absolutely right. In any sport, the man is a baseball genius.

I would suggest we stick to basketball announcer evaluations. McCarver a genius? Google "McCarver sucks" and you will get a rather lengthy list of concurring opinions. (Now I do not think he necessarily sucks per se, but a genius? No way)

For your sake, I really hope this is sarcasm.

Watched the replay yesterday and Dakich was fine. He beats some things into the ground but overall he gives decent analysis. I really liked how he and Tirico were enjoying the game as fans, not just announcers.

BTW, I knew Rodney's block at the end was a great play, but from the upper level I had no idea of how awesome a leap that was. The floor level replay was impressive.

Still bitter lol

@dandakich: “@AdamESPN1380: @dandakich Coach, do you get flashbacks of Blake Hoffarber everytime you call the Big Ten tourney?”..who?? DJ was pushed
