Dan Dakich putting the U on the blast for bb facilities

The first one is the 5 in 5 out substitution patterns that limit minutes and the second is the slow style of play. Recruits want a lot of playing time, and failing that, they would prefer to play in an uptempo system.

Coming at it from another angle though, how much of the limiting of minutes do you think is due to the fact that the Gophers really don't have a go to playmaker, floor general, etc.? In other words, do you think Tubby would leave a guy out there if he earned the right to stay on the floor? Leaving Andre in last night during the first line change comes to mind.

And that is the fault of?????????????????

Ha. I'm not getting into that circular argument that has taken over most other threads in the basketball forum. I never said in my post that our personnel issues aren't Tubby's fault.

Trevor had been playing 35 minutes a game before he went down.

Thanks. I hesitated to mention our injured star because I wanted to avoid the attention of minngg and Goober, but that was my ultimate point. In general, recruits will get all the minutes they want if and when they earn them.

I love when lousy coaches like Dakich have all the answers. I believe one of the last games he coached was when the Gophers beat Indiana on Blake's last second shot in the Big Ten Tourney.

Dakich was spot on in his criticism of the Gophers lask of effort in the first half as well as their stupid, sloppy turnovers. He lost credibility with comments about the great university baseball facility downtown (Target Field) with the Gophers playing their games at the Dome because of the horrendous condition of Siebert on campus. Also any comment using the term "strong play" in the same sentence with "Ralph Sampson" is laughable.

This is not accurate at al, Trevor had not played 35 minutes in a SINGLE GAME ALL YEAR: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/36628/trevor-mbakwe

Even if Trevor was playing 35 min a game, that would only have an impact on post recruits. Guards/Wings, would still look at the Gophers and see 4 guys (the guys at their positions) being substituted for 4 new guys. That's not to say the 5 for 5 line changes cannot be a good strategy at times nor is it to say that Tubby wouldn't be willing to change the substitution patterns to fit new personnel. It's just pointing out that recruits (and even current/former Gophers) don't like the 5 for 5 subs and limited PT. For most top kids, priority number 1 is getting to the league and they want to get enough run to put up the type of stats they believe they need to get there.

Hmm... I remembered looking at MPG on ESPN last week and I could've sworn Trevor was at 35. My apologies.
