Damn, USC out of the top 25

11 to out is not normal...USC losing to Minnesota is perceived as a very, very bad loss for USC by the voters is the only explanation.
In terms of record, they are 3-2, no other 3 win teams are in the Top 25 and then have a loss to #24 MI. They have only 1 quality win vs. LSU (#13). The reality is that they started the season #23, got vastly overrated after beating LSU and now have resorted to where they were expected to be at the start of the season. I could agree with you if the plummet came after getting blown out by us, but in this case, I think it is much more of a math issue - MI is the only 2 loss team and they beat SC head to head and have 1 extra win (played 6 games) - then getting punished by losing to us. So, they are now ranked about where they should be based on the actual results of the games played.

Yeah but - they are 26th by a wide margin over 27.

If USC was in SEC they would not have fell out. The SECAP keeps the rankings inflated for them to perceive they have a better ranking or league for playoff purposes. Bama should have taken a massive hit after that loss to Vandy. Every team that joins the B1G struggles, teams that join the SEC usually do really well.

Nebraska has not been the same since joining. Texas A&M and mizz have done quite well in SEC country

That, and because USC's only other loss was to Michigan, who lost to Washington and proceeded to drop from #10 all the way to #24.

So now USC has a loss to the #24 ranked team (who has 2 losses) and an unranked team (with 3 losses).

I bet if Michigan had won in a convincing fashion, and moved up in the rankings, USC would still be ranked. They would be at like #24 or #25, but still in the rankings.
