I was going to guess he goes down to the G5 level for more playing time. Maybe Northwestern is similar now? They seem to be one of the few B1G teams the portal & NIL hasn't really helped. Makes a lot of sense he is moving closer to home and getting a masters degree from a world class university. If he starts, then the move really makes sense. Good luck to him!

Someone who knows better than me, is it going to be more difficult for schools like Northwestern to have guys transfer in, as far as being able to transfer credits from other schools?

This is a positive that a Minnesota football player has the academic record to transfer to a Northwestern grad program.
