Damian Johnson on Asuma: He should be a starter along with Femi. I don’t understand starting Rigsby.

Plus Asuma's defense is much better as he is a better athlete. He has the tools to be a very good PG and the less Ben uses him in that role only slows down his progression.

IMO, Patterson should see his minutes shrink then Rigsby upon the return of Mike and whenever Cochran becomes serviceable.

Patterson seems to be the only guy other than Garcia who can make his own shot. For that reason alone....he shouldn't lose any time to Rigsby when Mitchell returns.

Yeah, but he shoots about 30% and causes most of the shot clock violations.

Patterson and Odukale are the worst on the team in terms of overall point production per shot. Both are in the range of .9 points per shot. Good is in the range of 1.25 pts per shot. Odukale is a great defender so just limit his shots to really good ones and he is good to go. Patterson shoots mostly contested shots because he has difficulty getting separation.

Patterson shoots contested shots because he kills ball movement and dribbles the ball flat before tossing up a prayer at the buzzer.
No shortage of buzzer shots with our no-motion offense.

I would like to see stats on points allowed versus points scored. My guess it would be a negative for Patterson. I think Rigsby plays better D and is a better athlete.

Asuma needs to be the starting PG when Mike returns and Patterson's minutes take a nose dive.

We'll have to wait and see how the team composition goes when we get Mitchell back. Patterson is being played out of position right now. Not a true point guard. Being asked to guard quicker players. Sliding him back to an off ball guard will help.

Your instincts on Patterson are pretty good. On Evan Miya he ranks as the poorest defender on the team and his adjusted team efficiency is second lowest on the team. Rigsby is the lowest, likely because he has shot so poorly up until last game.

It's only 9 games in but...

Yep

Head scratcher after head scratcher with this staff. Before this, it was stubbornly refusing to start Payne. Everyone in the building is saying the same thing...at least everyone in my season ticket group and within earshot.

It's crazy. Asuma is far, far from a finished player but he is the only guy with the skill set to move the team at a decent pace. Why he didn't just cut him loose day one, let him make mistakes and learn, is beyond me. Now what we have is an increasingly cautious player, as the games get bigger and he hasn't learned when to turn on the gas and when not to. He was Ben's only shot at bringing this team to a higher level and Ben spit the bit.
