There’s a couple interesting notes at the bottom of Jeff Goodman’s column that relate to the Gophers; first, J.P. Tokoto, who was referenced in yesterday’s Skinny, is climbing pretty high in the class of 2012. Reading a bit further we see that Ray McCallum Jr. is setting up some official visits, with Minnesota not yet on the list:

ESPN continues their summer series preview with a look at the Big 12, my pick for the top conference this upcoming season. Kansas and Texas are formidable at the top, but it’s a pretty deep conference when you see Iowa State predicted to finish ninth:

Dana O’Neil delivers another solid story with her look at former Memphis guard Darius Washington who is plying his trade in Macedonia these days:

We’ll finish with an interesting story from the Indianapolis Star, which looks at the exodus of a couple Top 100 prospects from perennial power Lawrence North. I had a tough time keeping the smirk off my face when I read the parental concerns about the quality of education their kids were receiving at Lawrence North and how things would be much better at the prep schools they are heading to:

Keefer(the Lawrence North head coach) took a few cheap shots at both Martin's and Ferguson's familys' when the left Lawrence North which were uncalled for. But also for what its worth, I've heard multiple times from multiple people that Purdue never recuited either Ferguson or Martin hard because red flags academicly.

Question for MNBOILER

Sorry for going off topic a little bit here. ... does Purdue know who it's playing yet in the Wooden Tradition on December 19th? It's been listed as TBD on the Boilers' web site for quite some time. I would assume it's going to be a decent opponent. Thanks in advance.

No Purdue doesn't know yet. Rumors have included Miss St and Providence. Auburn has also been talked about. Alot of people are pulling for a "local" team like Butler, L-ville, ND, Xavier, or Cincy. Any team besides Auburn would add another challenge to an already really really challenging OOC slate.

Thanks. Can probably rule out Auburn, Cincinnati and Xavier, as they've already released their schedules.

My guess would be Mississippi State, as it's the only SEC school yet to release its schedule. They've also been rumored as wanting/needing another quality opponent. If it's MSU, they'd be in both the Wooden Classic (vs. UCLA) and Wooden Tradition.

Any of the teams you mention would be a nice addition to the Boilers' schedule.

XU will sign Martin. Academic Red Flags don't make it there.
