Curt Cignetti

Neither the 2024 IU team nor the 2025 IU team with just swapping Mendoza and Rourke, beats Iowa, Oregon, or Penn State from the 2025 schedule.

9-3 is still historically great for IU ... not that history means a single thing now ... but that's not CFP and no one is talking about it.
So step one is to assume in some alternate reality he would have won less game. Then, if we take that assumption as fact, we have to acknowledge that less wins would be less impressive than becoming the undefeated B1G champ and steamrolling Bama en route to a berth in the semis. And, based on the assumption that he could have done worse had he not done well, we go on to claim that he is not actually as good as he seems?

That is an interesting spin on the SEC hypothetical wins analysis.

But, I will grant you that I would find Cignetti less impressive if he had less success than he actually has had. So this round goes to you!

Everyone makes mistakes, me included. It's the ability to acknowledge making a mistake that separates someone with real intestinal fortitude from the narcissists.
I agree a 1000%.

I was just impressed by the breadth and depth of your reply😀

Just to be clear, none of my posts have been anti-Cignetti. I think he IS a genius.

I was hoping that Indiana lost to Alabama, but that has nothing to do with what I think of him. Until proven otherwise, dude walks on water as far as I am concerned.
Fair enough...I'll take you at your word. I interpreted some of your earlier posts as being ant-Cignetti.

As far as I can tell, he's only lost two games while at IU. Where are you getting 9-3?

I admit I have been totally trying to bust GG's chops on the topic so I can see how that would be the case misconstruing my comments as sarcastic.

However, I totally revere/respect Cignetti (other than whatever role he has had with a pushover Non-Conference schedule).

GG is on an island of very few, perhaps 1.

All good. I haven't seen GG since my rather long but thorough post. He must be running around with his tail between his legs!
