If I was Indiana I wouldn't be worried about age. I think it may benefit them in that he would be less attractive to other teams.

His buyout or his age? I was going to rebut with something about the age of say, Kirby Smart not being an issue until I realized he’s 48. Dude looks like he’s in his mid 60s . Father Time is capricious

I don’t think his age really bothers Indiana

Most colleges now are hiring hoping for a 5-10 year guy. Most aren’t thinking about a 30 years head coach. It’s not 1980 anymore.

Given the average duration of a coach I’d sure roll the dice on a proven winner at all levels. Will he get the fat and happy syndrome now that he got paid?

It could be really smart or it could be a Mel Tucker type contract.

Damned if you do and damned if you don’t, but it sure is risky after one year. Let’s say he can’t find a quarterback the next three years things can go to hell real fast. I don’t specifically recall regarding Tucker, but I think this guy has more coaching chops than he did prior to getting the HC job in the Big Ten.
