For Gopher fan who doesn't follow football as closely as Gopher basketball, could some people help me out in naming Gophers who who have the chance to get drafted or picked up as a UDFA to compete for a roster spot in the coming years?

I think some obvious guys who will attract interest are (in no particular order):

Mitch Leidner
Jalen Myrick
Damarius Travis

Nate Wozniack, cause of his size, will probably too.

I'm impressed will all three running backs: Brooks (based one last year), Smith and McCrary

Then there are younger guys like Devers... But is there anyone else you guys think can play on Sundays, or at least crack a NFL squad? There are a lot of recent Gophers repping the school right now, and it would be nice to keep it up. Will help with recruiting

You missed Santoso, he'll get a shot, I think he's good enough to get drafted.

Except for kick offs, Carpenter looked pretty good for a RS-Soph

Pirsig has been metioned as having a shot at getting drafted.

wolitarsky's highlight reel and stats will get him some positive attention. I don't know whether he'll get drafted, but there's certainly a place for him on someone's practice squad. If he has another game or two like this one, he's liable to get himself drafted.

Connor Mayes seems to me to have the look and disposition of an NFL player.

Shannon Brooks has already gotten himself into the scouts' notebooks.

Also Cody Poock and Steve Richardson.

I agree on Pirsig, I can also see Jack Lynn getting a look.

No Jonah?

Wozniak has no shot, he's an odd one to bring up. Lingen actually has a decent chance if he can get healthy again. I agree with most of the rest. The primary consideration is measurables (which is why Richardson has a huge uphill climb; if he were 6'1", he'd have a great shot, but in that hypothetical he wouldn't be here anyway). Tyler Johnson fits the profile if he can add another 20 lbs. and maintain his athleticism. Elmore also fits the profile, but has to up his production if he wants a shot.

It's hard to project underclassmen, but of the Seniors Leidner, Pirsig, Myrick & Travis will be drafted. Lynn should get a look as an UDFA.

No one really jumps out as a lock among the Juniors. Wozniak, no shot. Lingen has a shot, but needs to get healthy & produce. He's not there yet. Merrick Jackson has the size & potential, but needs to get in shape. Elmore has the size, but isn't explosive. Connor Mayes, I'm not seeing it. A guy like Isaiah Gentry could finally get healthy and surprise. Steve Richardson is undersized, but is a freak athlete. He could find his way into the league. Poock has a shot. Duke McGhee wouldn't shock me at all.

When you get into underclassmen it really becomes a guessing game. Tyler Moore is one who I could see drafted. I would have said Ray Buford this time last week. He's got the size/tools. Freshmen are even harder to project, but obviously Coughlin has the tools.

Took the words right out of my mouth... Great post.

I'd be pretty surprised if Richardson isn't drafted in 2018. Not sure he's a lock, but he's close to it IMO.

Myrick, Travis, Pirsig, Lynn and Leidner all have a shot with Myrick being the best prospect. He easily has the most potential due to his speed and I could easily see him not just making it but becoming a very good player at the next level. Pirsig already is a projected mid round pick by CBS and NFL draft scout. He is playing really well right now as are all of them.

Wolitarsky I think gets a shot as a free agent. If Fruechte can make a practice squad than there's no reason why he can't.

Of the underclassmen, I think Poock and Lingen decent good chances but it's too early to say anyone else. Elmore has a really nice frame but needs to ramp up the production a bit. Lingen was actually rated the #4 top underclassmen TE's by either McShay or Kiper.

Fruechte is much faster than Wolitarsky. Fruechte ran a 4.41 at the Gopher Pro Day. I'd be surprised if Wolitarsky broke 4.6.
