Current Gophers vs all-Tubby transfer team

I have to disagree on Tubby's ability to recruit talent:

Rodney Williams - good guy; stays out of trouble; great leaper; very average talent
Trevor Mbakwe - the young man practically had to come home after all the crap he found himself in
Royce White - the kid wasn't going anywhere else cause of his anxiety issues; damaged goods
Austin Hollins - average talent
Justin Cobbs - below average talent
Devoe Joseph - a little better than average talent
Dre Hollins - clearly talented, but so lacking in smarts, leadership and versatility; not a "wow" recruit
Ahamnisi, Armelin, Osenieks, Ingram, Welch, Iverson, Sampson et al, YUK! just not talented enough to make waves in the B1G.

I would take the entire Wisconsin team over our entire team any day. That includes Dre, Ellenson...everyone. Bo recognizes talent, Bo recruits talent, Bo secures talent. Real talent. Talent that knows how to play the game. Talent that has all the skills necessary to play at a high level. I would take Brust over Dre every day of the week. Some people just have a gift for seeing talent and securing talent. Tubby doesn't. And the proof is in the pudding!

Suddenly Iverson is not getting in foul trouble playing for CSU. What's with that? Could there be some teaching involved? Take a look at his shot blocks- way down from when he was a Gopher. Someone has taught him positioning versus swatting at shots.

In some fairness to Tubby on this one, by his final year Colton had developed such a reputation with the B1G refs that they were almost calling fouls on him when he was on the bench. It was outrageous. Tubby contributed to it by doing nothing to protect Colton. A couple of "T's" and some public campaigning might have helped.

Well, since nobody bit...

The location of the game matters. For instance: If it is in Hawaii, Tubby players beat Tubby transfers because Royce would not make the trip.

Not necessarily. Hawaii is accessible by water. It'd be a hell of a sail, but with his grandpa at captain, it could happen.

Overall the big ten is more physical than every conference. But i did see the gophers beat the badgers in person. I also saw CSU play UNLV and New Mexico. The 2 games CSU played were more physical. Might be that the badgers had most of their players outside the 3pt line, but who knows? Iverson is as phyical as ever and definitely stronger. The difference is he knows when to be physical, before the post gets the ball, he has learned how to put his hands straight up when he has forced offensive player into a bad shot. He has learned that he is not quick enough to hedge hard on the pick and roll. CSU knows they have a stud and they teach him how to stay on the floor. By the way I would take Iverson and Kirk, over any big ten center not named Zeller right now, well maybe Berggen and Hammons over Kirk but it is close. Nix is not a top 5 big ten center, but he is a load on the block.

Could also be who he is playing, I don't think he could stay out of fould trouble matching up with someone like Nix or Payne. Could also be due to the fact he is in a much less physical league now than the B1G. It would be interesting to see him in the NCAA tournament if Colorado State gets matched up with a B1G team and see how he does against similar competetion to what the Gophers face.

Colton is the most important player for CSU, they are 6'6" and 215 without him. He is appreciated. The coach would definitley take a few T;s for him.

I have to disagree on Tubby's ability to recruit talent:

Rodney Williams - good guy; stays out of trouble; great leaper; very average talent Fair enough.
Trevor Mbakwe - the young man practically had to come home after all the crap he found himself inHe had a bunch of offers after going to junior college, so not sure what you mean. Either way, he's very talented.
Royce White - the kid wasn't going anywhere else cause of his anxiety issues; damaged goods Had offers from a bunch of schools, including Wisconsin who was coached by the Bo Ryan you're salivating over in the last paragraph. Again, either way he's very talented.
Austin Hollins - average talent Disagree
Justin Cobbs - below average talent Strongly disagree
Devoe Joseph - a little better than average talent He was a 1st team all conference player. Yes the conference isn't very good but you still have to be pretty good to achieve that.
Dre Hollins - clearly talented, but so lacking in smarts, leadership and versatility; not a "wow" recruit Still only a sophomore and talented as you said.
Ahamnisi, Armelin, Osenieks, Ingram, Welch, Iverson, Sampson et al, YUK! just not talented enough to make waves in the B1G. Many were brought in last minute because of transfers. No coach is going to be able to bring in tons of talent that late in the recruiting process. You can criticize Tubby for the transfers though but that's a different subject. Iverson will play in the NBA.

I think it has a lot more to do with Bo Ryan having a good system in place where Tubby doesn't. Ryan gets guys who fit his system. It's not necessarily that they have more talent.

Current NBA players:
- Wisconsin: 3
- Minnesota: 2
