Well this list kinda says it's not Tubby's recruiting of talent. He's gotten talent to come. He just hasn't gotten much out of it. BTW- no one could blame Tubby for Royce. You forgot Joseph and Carter so there's been plenty of talent- perhaps not the right blend and not the right approach.

That's what I've been saying for awhile. I don't know how anyone can say Tubby hasn't been able to recruit talent. The problem is players leaving unexpectedly (which he deserves some of the blame).

I tried to use only players that would have eligibility this year... that's why there is no devoe or paul carter... technically royce would have eligibility...

Royce would be a problem, but I'll say the gophs have the advantage in the other match ups, superior back court and I'll take Mbakwe over Colton we all know how he does when he's matched against someone good offensively challenged and gets into foul trouble. So who coaches the all transfer team?

Jimmy Williams?

Overall the current Gopher line up is better.

However, Royce would be the best player on the floor.

I might take the transfer team due to Royce alone.

Transfer team better at three spots. Or you could put it this way. Iverson, Cobbs, and White are either three of the top five or maybe six players in this group. Transfers would win because White would make plays down the stretch. He would have been the best ballhandler, point guard for the Gophers the last two years.

Apparently, absense makes the heart grow fonder...this thread is absolutely rediculous. Yes, White is the best player of all of them. Even with White, current team mops the floor with them and it's not even close.

C- Iverson could never play against a physical opponent without getting into foul trouble. Doesn't anybody else remember how lost he could look on the floor?
F- White certainly would outplay Williams, but if Williams isn't pouting, he can at least keep it competitive.
G/F- Coleman would match up very well against Chip "the chucker" Armelin. Coleman has problems when he's going against a larger forward. Armelin is like Coleman, but even more careless with the ball and has less of a shot. If Coleman has 5 turnovers in this game, Armelin would have 10. Coleman could slash to the basket all day on Armelin.
G- Hollins vs. Allen. I don't even need to go into this one.
G- Yes, Cobbs is a pure point guard. But Andre's athleticism and speed more than makes up for it.

The problem is players leaving early and failure to use the players that stay effectively. It's not a problem if players leave early and don't do well elsewhere- it is a problem if the leave and turn out to be good. You find a way to keep the good ones (with the exception of White which is not his fault).

Suddenly Iverson is not getting in foul trouble playing for CSU. What's with that? Could there be some teaching involved? Take a look at his shot blocks- way down from when he was a Gopher. Someone has taught him positioning versus swatting at shots.

Colton wouldn't have any eligibility left. He's a senior his year because he sat out his transfer year. Would have graduated with Ralph last year.

Iveson is doing alot more than not just getting into foul trouble.

With good coaching Iverson is turning into an all conference performer. I just watched CSU lose a tough one to #16 New Mexico when their guard went crazy hitting 10-13 3's and scoring 46 pts. Iverson playing a 7' with NBA potential in Alex Kirk, scored 26 pts to go with his 15 rebounds. It is too bad he is no Ralph Sampson though.

Could also be who he is playing, I don't think he could stay out of fould trouble matching up with someone like Nix or Payne. Could also be due to the fact he is in a much less physical league now than the B1G. It would be interesting to see him in the NCAA tournament if Colorado State gets matched up with a B1G team and see how he does against similar competetion to what the Gophers face.

The Mountain West also isn't as physical as the big ten, no conference is maybe that's why Colt's fouls are down???

Tubby has not recruited much in the way of talent

That's what I've been saying for awhile. I don't know how anyone can say Tubby hasn't been able to recruit talent. The problem is players leaving unexpectedly (which he deserves some of the blame).

I have to disagree on Tubby's ability to recruit talent:

Rodney Williams - good guy; stays out of trouble; great leaper; very average talent
Trevor Mbakwe - the young man practically had to come home after all the crap he found himself in
Royce White - the kid wasn't going anywhere else cause of his anxiety issues; damaged goods
Austin Hollins - average talent
Justin Cobbs - below average talent
Devoe Joseph - a little better than average talent
Dre Hollins - clearly talented, but so lacking in smarts, leadership and versatility; not a "wow" recruit
Ahamnisi, Armelin, Osenieks, Ingram, Welch, Iverson, Sampson et al, YUK! just not talented enough to make waves in the B1G.

I would take the entire Wisconsin team over our entire team any day. That includes Dre, Ellenson...everyone. Bo recognizes talent, Bo recruits talent, Bo secures talent. Real talent. Talent that knows how to play the game. Talent that has all the skills necessary to play at a high level. I would take Brust over Dre every day of the week. Some people just have a gift for seeing talent and securing talent. Tubby doesn't. And the proof is in the pudding!

Well, since nobody bit...

The location of the game matters. For instance: If it is in Hawaii, Tubby players beat Tubby transfers because Royce would not make the trip.
