When I was at UMass some lefty groups such as wacked out feminists were creeped out by the Minuteman mascot, which is a white man with a gun.

Personally I'm creeped out by that Stanford Tree, and I'm a card carrying treehugger.

There is a school called the University of California-Davis that has an anteater for their mascot.
The nickname for the stupid thing is called "Zot". Can you believe that?

I would guess the name "Zot" is from the B.C. comic strip, "Zot" is sound bubble that the strip uses when he shoots his tongue out to eat an ant.

Actually UC-Irvine are the anteaters. They seem to have a pretty strong baseball program.

I'm going to have to say that those were some dang weird mascots, except for the UCONN husky. He loos really cool, and I didn't quite understand their reasoning behind stuff. It is a way cool mascot costume. His eyes aren't lifeless or anything.
