Craig Curry

Thank you for posting this. Curry started in both 1970 and 1971 and his teams were not very good. In 1971, the Gophers hosted #10 Ohio State. Down 14-6, Curry led the Gophers on a last minute drive. They scored to make it 14-12 and, on the 2-point PAT try, Curry kept it on an option play and came up a few inches short. Warmath wasn't much for sideline theatrics but he threw a tantrum that Woody Hayes must have admired. Curry's last game was also Warmath's, vs. the Badgers, of course. Down 21-16, Curry guided the Gophers downfield again in the last minutes and this time cashed in with a short touchdown pass with just a few seconds left. So nice to get the Axe back and to see both of them to go out on a joyous note.

I was at both games. He was my first “Gopher QB”.
