Coyle: "We are not going to take the gas pedal off our football program. We want to compete at a high level."

Not being the Cliche police here but..."take the gas pedal off"?
I was thinking the same thing. Remove it from the lever that connects to the throttle body/carb?
If they do remove it, they can install one of those Holley chrome foot gas pedals.

Frankly, I think volleyball has every bit as much drawing power as hockey. But that's my opinion, and may not be supported by the data or the dollars.
You’re right. It is not supported by data or dollars. Not even close.

I don't think Coyle will "take the gas pedal off", but I do think Tim Walz and the board of regents will.

There's a nasty potential situation shaping up where "blue state schools" don't have a 2020 CFB season, and "red state schools" do. That will potentially gut Gopher football, along with the economies of those cities and states. Another hangover we get to spend a decade or more lamenting long after the virus we never got sick from is a distant memory.

I'm not going to sit around and witness the economic and cultural destruction of our major cities and institutions due to overzealous lockdowns. All to save a small percentage of people who have already outlived their life expectancy. Looking to move to Texas or Florida. I call myself a liberal but I'm done with this.

If the scenario you laid out happens, and Gopher football is gutted, I don’t expect Coyle and Fleck to stick around much longer. And if I was a graduate on this roster, with dreams of playing in the NFL, one of my contingency plans would most certainly be the transfer portal.

Long term care facility deaths: 501
Non-long term care facility deaths: 113

Good riddance to you. No one is going to miss you or care what happens to you. However, I recommend you find another state to go to. It won't be long before both Texas and Florida will be reliably liberal states that try to protect the health and welfare of ALL their citizens no matter their age, sex, race, or religious beliefs.

What do you even mean. This guy is completely correct. The corona virus has an average death age 10 years higher than the average age of death. It’s like forcing social distancing so people wont have sex because the baby will have a disease called life that will eventually kill them, 10 tears earlier than youd be expected to die from Covid-19 none the less

If your scenario plays out we won’t have red and blue states anymore.

because either everyone dies in the red states and they all vote blue...or not everyone dies and all the blue states vote red.

I'm confident he'll get the basketball program to an elite level in the future.

Such a difference in leadership from the past, both with the AD and Pres., finally not apologizing for wanting to have an elite athlete department, not good or okay.

We're "in the neighborhood"!!! Yay?

Please stay in MN Texas and Florida don't need any more liberals.

That’s not something you see every day...

This guys knows how to not get off the gas pedal. His brakes and rotors get so hot they glow red, and the overheating engine bouncing off the rev limiter sets the grass on fire. Cigarette is a nice touch.

Had two manuals, thanks!

3 vs 5 pretty much epitomizes the Pitino era at Minnesota. One of the least competent moments in college basketball history from my perspective.
50 years from now, Gopher fans will be at a bar drinking and someone will bring up that game, and other people will ask "Did that really happen? ?

I shouldn't do this, but I'm in a bad mood.

If you agree with FM Lizard that the victims of the virus have "outlived their life expectancy," then here is my challenge to you.

The next time you see an extremely elderly person, walk up to them, and ask them to their face, "why haven't you died yet?"

try to capture it on video and post it online.

Speaking for myself, I will kick, claw, bite and scream for every possible second of life. if that means I outlive my life expectancy, and you don't like it, then go bleep yourself. I would rather be old and still have a functioning conscience as opposed to be young and have no sense of the value of a human life.

Pitino is a first class disaster. Each year he stays it’s a horrible set back for the program.
Is basketball really in worse shape than when he got here?

I thought it was kinda a reconstruction job when he arrived... granted shooty hoops isn't my thing.
