There are 3 coaches in the B1G who have taken any reduction... 0 in the SEC... He also took the week furlough. But I’m sure you would have done more. There are coaches nationally that voluntarily are taking 25% cuts.

Well there is that little 2.6 million that Saban gave away according to Finebaum. I think the 10% cuts are great but i would expect more. There are 3 coaches in the B1G who have taken any reduction... 0 in the SEC... He also took the week furlough. But I’m sure you would have done more.
I'm actually pissed that they asked him to take a pay cut.
He is already worth far more than he's getting paid.
If we lose him over petty crap like this then the short-term gain is far less valuable then the long-term '90s Gophers.
Any reduction now can be made up later if It ends up being an issue.
Haven’t seen anything about that, but here was my source.Well there is that little 2.6 million that Saban gave away according to Finebaum. I think the 10% cuts are great but i would expect more.
I agree with almost everything you said here but no need to call people an idiot.36,000,000 Americans out of work, or about 31% of the workforce is unemployed and an idiot says he should not have a pay reduction? Seriously, prioritize your thinking. This is a whole new level of fanaticism and coach worship.
I love P.J. Fleck. Fantastic human being and coach. P J Fleck took a paycut for America. Not just Minnesota. At the end of the day, Instead of earning 10,000 per day, he is earning $9000. I don't think he is going to miss it that much. The difference between the two is merely ego. And, I would hope that PJ's character is not driven by that much self centeredness. This is his truest character test. If he would turn around and bolt out the door because of this cut, then I would have to say he would be a fraud of the first order of magnitude. But, I don't think he is that kind of person.

Starts with a B ends with a t I bet. There are coaches nationally that voluntarily are taking 25% cuts.

The vast majority of those 36,000,000 Americans don't have employment contracts. Fleck does.36,000,000 Americans out of work, or about 31% of the workforce is unemployed and an idiot says he should not have a pay reduction? Seriously, prioritize your thinking. (This is a side note to this comment and not necessarily about Fleck)The vast majority of those 36,000,000 Americans don't have employment contracts. Fleck does.
No one with a contract should have to take a pay reduction. If things were reversed and companies/colleges were making record high amounts of money they wouldn't be giving their contracted employees more money.

Do you think contracts should no longer be valid because a situation the athletic department didn't plan for came up?I always like the view that contract law supersedes reality.

If you feel so strongly about this, then you should ask for a 10% pay reduction on Monday. It might help them save other jobs.

If it's reality above all, why doesn't it work the other way? The football team was extremely successful last year and he didn't get anything that wasn't in his contract. I could see the argument if the Gophers were giving rewards beyond what's in contracts for good performance but they don't.
The reality is that the athletic department is in a tough situation because they didn't plan well. Fleck didn't agree to loans on multiple facilities or to all of the spending the department does. If Fleck thinks that taking a voluntary pay cut is the right thing to do and is willing to do it to help save some of his coworkers' jobs, good for him. But he shouldn't feel obligated to or that he and his salary are a part of the problem.
