Coyle did a great job with the PJ Fleck hire

One thing I have noticed about Coyle; he doesn't waste much time in hiring coaches.

The 3 biggest hires he made (Fleck, Trachsel, and Whalen) were made within 2 weeks of the jobs coming open. Fleck was even quicker than that.

As it should be. That is the biggest responsibility of the AD.
Absolutely criminal for Maturity to have hired a head coach he had never heard of before the hiring search. 1) should be no search, you should always have a list. 2) if you are going to hire someone you’ve never heard of, why couldn’t AJ Bakers moms friend conduct the search?

Not hard to keep a list of five people you would reach out to and move on quickly if you needed a head coach in one of your high profile sports.
The fact Maturi didn’t have one.... I don’t know why anything on campus is named after him.

When Mr. Coyle was the AD at Syracuse Univ. it was rumored that he went hard after coach Fleck after Shavers the head football coach was let go. Coach Fleck reportedly turned him down and Mr. Coyle hired hired Dino Babers. Shortly there after Mr. Coyle resigned from Syracuse and eventually ended up at Minnesota. When the head football coach position opened up at Minnesota after the bowl game the search began for the new coach. It has been speculated that the prior connection that Mr. Coyle had with Coach Fleck was very beneficial in getting him to come to the U of Minnesota. There is very mutual, respect they have for each other. It is proving to be a good hire by Mr. Coyle. The womans' head softball coach was another good hire by him. And Coach Motzko will turn things around if given time.
