I don't think it's insane to try to come up with an alternate barnstorming team or something...rather than pay 'students' with unlimited free-agency.

And my 'conspiracy theory' that our administration doesn't want to win...and that Coyle isn't actually a Gophers fan...has a LOT of evidence.

Just to name 2 things (out of dozens):

Coyle never set foot in Minnesota before he was hired for $1M+ per year.

3 of our 4 valuable players were told to hit the portal...to be replaced with free players.

(Not paying for 'students' doesn't actually bother me. It was way worse how the administration destroyed Clem, Tubby, & Pitino's best teams.)

About ten years ago I took my dad to a luncheon where Joel Maturi was speaking while he was still AD. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is he said that if you knew just 10% of the stuff that occurs on an ongoing basis you would probably just choose to shut down the athletic department. Maybe the administration's have opted for integrity over wins.
