I see that you believe that, Station19. It's common for personal services contracts that courts won't enforce a buyout when the person gets a commensurate job. That might ALSO be an NFL rule but it exists in all kinds of settings. It might exist in this setting and a sports agent, journalist or someone in the know will probably only be able to answer the question on Tubby. You may be right. My personal guess is the buyout is reduced a lot. I'm curious to learn the answer.

Station is correct. The U fired Tubby without cause, he is entitled to the full severance package, and it is not reduced by his TT compensation. The NFL is really the only outlier that mitigates severance by new employment. Strange, but true!
