Could next weeks Iowa game be the coldest game in recent memory?

What was 2019 wisconsin? I think it snowed too, which probably made I seem colder than it was
I remember it being just "warm" enough to rain for the majority of tailgating before the rain turned to sleet and snow.

I went to the 2018 NW game too and was cold on the M side, 15 yard line, lower, despite layers of everything. My tickets this year are 240 and last week's game vs NW wasn't too bad with boots, two wool socks, thermal, lined pants, snow pants, base layer up top, wool sweater, fleece, and insulated jacket with wool cap. Christmas Story character for sure. Probably will add hand warmers this week. I hope all GopherHolers show up for our win against the Hawks!!!!!!!!

I was there for that one as well with my oldest. We were good through most of the game, but in the 2nd half it was catching up with us.

I wore:
Boxers, base layer tights, pair of jeans, snowpants.
T-shirt, long sleeve thermal shirt, long sleeve thin shirt, sweathshirt, heavy coat that essentially had an inner layer as well.
Warm insulated boots with foot heat pads activated before walking to the stadium. Make sure they are warm when you put them in. They need air to work. I had two layers of socks on inside insulated boots.
Wore a face gaiter thing to keep face and head warm, then had a ski mask stocking cap I could pull down over my face after that. Had several activated hand warmers in my pockets as well.

That night they had handwarmers handed out in the drink holders of all the seats, but they took about 20-30 minutes to warm up in that cold.

The 2018 Northwestern game was cold but we sat on the sunny side. That made a definite difference, and if there is sun out, Minnesota should take the sunny side for the first time ever.
I'm debating snow pants vs lined pants with long underwear.

Are snow pants too much for this one?

Maybe this can help someone...

Car
Cardboard keeps the concreate from radiating cold to your boots. Another barrier to keep out the cold. It works have used it at both late season Iowa and Wisconsin games. Have done both no cardboard and cardboard. I just used a large pizza box Saturday against Northwestern. Kept my feet from freezing

It totally makes sense. Frankly, Tim's with wool socks and my feet were borderline sweating. Just gotta have halfway decent gear.

What I've found is if you have snowpants on, you can remove top layers if you need to.
Being too warm in an outdoor stadium below freezing temperatures is rarely a problem.

I was also at the MLS - Snow-opener for MNUFC at the Bank. Similar experience.

Man I can't say it enough - but Carhartt bibs kept me balmy. I felt nothing below my chest...
If you have snowpants, I would 100 say wear them.

Keep the core very warm - your extremities do better. Avoid cotton on the inner layer - has tendency to hold moisture and make you colder with time. At the Viking- Seahawk game a couple guys next to us brought pink foam to stand on - they weren’t tough enough for the second half so left and gave their foam to my buddy and me. I was surprised how much a difference it made - I’m a believer in that trick. Lastly - channel Bud Grant’s cold weather stoicism.

I have never tried it, but to keep toes and feet warm - I have a couple of friends who are hunters who swear by wrapping their feet in saran wrap, then put on warm hunting socks, then boots with some room in them.

No idea if it works, but they do it every year and claim it is magic.

Who knew....?

One thing that has become almost a trademark of Fleck, his teams seem to perform very well in the nasty weather games. I wish we would get Purdue at the end of the year because they are a terrible team in bad conditions.

Not sure if it is anything he does specifically, but the Gophers have done very well lately in the bad weather.

I was there too. Took my son, who was six years old at the time, and he made it to about half-time.

I was at the regular season Vikings-Seahawks game there, which was I believe in the 30's. I'm a Seattle fan, and everyone asked if we were going to go to the playoff game later that season - the really cold one where Walsh missed the FG. No way was I going to sit out in that weather. As I get older, my tolerance for cold weather has dropped immensely.
