Love seeing him turn the ball over on the game tying posssesion.. Hahahahahah

IMO, I hope every recruit who turned down or left MN sees this win. That means you Cory Joseph, Paul Jespersen, Royce White, Josh Ogelsby, Harrison Barnes, etc.

They will. Except maybe Barnes, he might have suffered a concussion in that game and won't remember it.

Joseph, yeah 2 points in 28 minutes, that will help the team win. He did look good in high school though, we shouldn't forget that.

Pretty sure Barnes saw it. :) Meanwhile, on this given night Al Nolen was certainly a better player than CJ.

And I think right there is why CJ went to Texas - Nolen was slotted to be the starter, CJ didn't like that much. Not?

And I have to believe CJ didn't want to be in his brothers shadow either.

Not trying to rip any of those guys, they did what they felt was right, but this win is a big statement to everyone who doubted this team and program. Now hopefully we can make a bigger statement and win the whole tournament.

Cory Joseph needs to get some different shoes - those burnt orange/tan ones he wore in MSG look like work boots or something.

I really don't think CJ would be able to get by Nolen if we played them, and I'm pretty confident Nolen would drive by him. Granted that's only part of the game, but I'm just basking in the glory right now and rambling.

As much as I really want to hate on CJ, imagine our team if he could spell Nolen this season!!

Yeah...Imagine if he blew out his knee on the play...then you could really celebrate!

You do realize that his brother Devoe dons the Maroon and Gold, right?

P.S. It's not like he didn't give the U a lot of consideration.

oh we love devoe, but cory..., rick barnes is their coach, that shouldve been enough. but we werent good enough for him, so its not like ill defend him.

What bothers me about Cory is it seems to me that he chose Texas mainly because he felt he could get to the NBA through Texas better than Minnesota. Of course, I don't really agree with what I believe was his reasoning there. I'm certainly not going to shed any tears if he doesn't make the NBA.

Very true OSUfan. Thank you.

I don't see the point in ripping players that don't play for the Gophers. Cory is only a frosh and is a good player. By the time he's a senior (if he sticks around that long) I'm sure many of you will be singing a different tune. Many of you are getting way ahead of yourselves with this big win last night. Nolen is a turnover machine which will kill us in the Big Ten if he doesn't improve that.

Realistically, I think Al and Devoe are better point guards than Cory at this point in time. May not be that way by the end of the season or next year.

You missed the sarcasm smiley...

('Cause I'm pretty sure you wouldn't seriously wish that on anyone, even one of the Gophers' most hated opponents).

Your point then is that it's much better to rip Gopher players?

Give us some statistical proof to back up that statement (and I don't mean from just one or two games). Gophers lose to UNC without Nolen last night, period.

No point in ripping on the kid. If Devoe and Tubby don't patch things up, we're going to wish we had Cory very badly next season, even if we don't miss him too much this year.

My problem with Cory and Barns was all the drama that they created. They should have informed us much earlier if they didn't want to come here. Last game he played for 38 minutes and scored only 8 points. He would have scored so many more points in 10 minutes if he played in MN under Tubby's system. That is his loss.

Cory's HS coach (Peck) favors Barnes over Tubby. He nudged him to Texas over Minnesota. He has nudged other Findley Prep players to Texas also.

I never understood the pleasure of ripping kids who go somewhere else. Can you honestly blame the kid for going to Texas? How many players have they put in the NBA compared to MN over the past 10 years? Glad the drama is over, I would rather build a team with 6-8 good, 4 year type players then depending on a couple of prima-donna stars anyway...

I agree.

I also find it rather "small" of folks to be getting down on some 18 year old kid because of where they decided to enroll and play college sports.

I for one wish Cory the best of luck and a great future. That being said, I can't stand Texas so when they lose, it brightens my day.

Pretty small of me I guess but there it is.

Texas is a good team, with a coach who puts players in the NBA consistently. Why do people rip the kid? Also, his buddy Thompson is there. I don't get the haters. I wish we had Cory too, but let the kid do what he thinks is best for him for gosh sakes.

Yep...exactly this.

senior leadership

It is a huge intangible imho and makes up for the mistakes (at least for now)

I feel like coaches often get too much credit for "putting players in the NBA". At least when it's stated like that, I feel like that takes too much credit away from the players themselves. When you look at schools who have recently had a lot of players go onto the NBA like UCLA, Texas, and Ohio State, how many of those players would honestly not have made it to the NBA had they played on another team where they played a lot of minutes? The biggest reason that those schools "put so many players in the NBA" is that they recruit the most talented players.
