Conzemius and Olson with a lot of optimism...lot of grief from Meatsauce and company...JC throws out O-line matches up well with Vikings o-line in age and talent...calls Gibbens a stud...says Nyles Pinckney out of Clemson a nice transfer...mentions Dylan Wight looks good...thinks Tanner Morgan looks the best he ever has...Mo looks like Mo...JC and TO ready for BSF to emerge...CAB injury not ideal...had to guess, he's back for CO...Olson likes Wiley...some talk about walk-on scholarships...some General Mills toaster strudel talk...JC heading to CO game...some Alliance talk...some cake bowl talk (Edina-Minnetonka; Leber-Conzemius)...

True at Mankato State, going to play wide-out...

DT: likes Gibbens, really, really likes Pinckney...RS Senior o-line, TE, QB, and RB should set a good tone....size, depth up front on both sides is good...Boye Mafe very talented, NFL skills, could have big year...2020 tough year for new OC to come in...Tanner Morgan doesn't blink...solid leader...Dylan Wright a specimen...Daniel Jackson, Brown good WRs...would expect OSU to have plan to ease Stroud in with easier completions

I listened to about 2 minutes.
That show is hard for me to listen to.

Kfan in general, but particularly the morning show, has morphed into the gameshow network. It's disgusting and sad seeing as it's our only viable local sports radio outlet that I am aware of.
Yeah. The network as a whole is doing well, but not really because of sports. It is probably 65% sports and 35% other. Morning show you could maybe reverse those two numbers.

It's got to be tough trying to spin interesting content with the Twins in non contention and the Vikings heading for an extremely mediocre season. With the Timber Wolves struggling and the Wild pretty much DOA the next 4 years until the Parise/Suter salary cap hit is off the books, the major pro sports teams just don't have a huge amount of interest.

I would say the time is very ripe for the Gophers football team to really catch the whole state by storm if they can have a big year!!

Hold it right there. They are winning the north. This is going to be an amazing Dline, look at the 3 starters who didn't play on our Dline last year: D. Hunter, D. Tomlinson, and Pierce. That's ridiculously talented. Throwing in E. Griffen playing the other DE spot in pass rush situations, throw in Sheldon Richardson for depth at tackle and you have a super bowl Dline. Great MLB, and look at the depth in the secondary. Then look at the Oline - 2 starters from the draft and Ezra moves to LG. It's a solid line, solid RB, 2 great WRs, and decent TE play.

Vikes walk away with the north this year.

whew.....if you look at any of the preseason predictions coming in, most have the Vikings at around 8-9 wins and a 9-8 or 8-9 season. If you think otherwise, go down to the casino as their over under victory total is at 8.5. The Vikings have a brutal stretch in November where they will be lucky to win even one game the entire month.

Prediction 1 - The Vikings will not win a playoff game. this year.
Prediction 2 - Zimmer will be fired at the end of the year.

Sounds like you listen to KFAN.

I think there will be real frustration with the Vikings quickly if they get off to a bad start.

If the Vikings stink, (and I think they'll be average at best missing the playoffs again) and Gophers have a good year, it would be a great opportunity for Gopher football to gain some interest.

The Vikings don’t stink. But they are painfully mediocre. Hard to win big with old slow defenders and a bad o line

IALTO.

given a choice, I would take the Gophers O-line over the Vikes' O-line.

And given a choice, I think Kirk Cousins would agree. O'Neill is the only Vikes' OL who would be a starter on the Gophers' line. at every other position, the Gophers starters are just flat-out better.

on another topic, the Wild may have cap issues, but assuming Kaprizov re-signs, the Wild have a short window to make a playoff run in the next couple of years, if a couple of the younger players come through for depth.

This may be one of the most overzealous takes on the O-line I have ever seen. Keep it up!

Actually I already have my bets made. : - ) Got the vikes winning the north, winning 9 (Vegas had 9, not 8.5) and some on the playoffs, like making and winning the Super Bowl.

It's way too early to know who is going to be good in November, as far as our opponents.

But let's revisit these posts in January. If I'm right, you have to have a tag line or something like "MplsGopher_fan is a smart person" for like a month. : - )

What parts are you not paying attention to? The defensive line got WAAAAY better. Brought in depth for CB. Darrisaw should be an upgrade at LT. Ezra Cleveland is moving to LG and that's a HUGE upgrade. The Ohio State guy will play RG and should be fine, considering his girth. and the RT is pro bowl calibur.

This isn't last year's Oline or Dline by any means. But I guess eternal pessimism is part of most vikes fan's DNA I guess.

The bolded is just nonsense. You think Sam Schlueter is better than 1st round tackle Darrisaw? Schlueter will probably be drafted, but I don't think anyone is looking at him going in the 1st round. Ezra Cleveland proved he can play at an NFL level - he's definitely at least as good as who the Gophers will put at LG this season. Center...that one could go to the Gophers. Dunlap is good and will be drafted, but how can you possibly suggest he's "flat-out better" than Wyatt Davis, who was starting the national championship game for Ohio State last year?

The Gophers line this year is probably better than last year's Viking line, but not this year.

I think the opposite is true of most Vikings fan. Eternal positivity is in the DNA, like you show.

You just took the Vikings two biggest issues from last year, (O-line and D-line. A total of 9 players) and you are convinced they are fixed because of drafting some kid who hasn't played a training camp down yet, and now the Dline is fixed after being nearly the worst in football.

I think what you believe is what most Vikings fans believe as well which is why they never meet expectations of the typical Vikings fan, but then all believe Rick Spielman will fix it with his next 11 draft picks.

The corners are still hufe question marks and the answers the Vikings came up with are reliant on one guy playing like he is 4 years younger than he is and another guy being better than he is. The linebackers outside of Kendricks are still slow. The fact that they are bringing in Griffin tells you everything you need to know about their own confidence in the D line.

you are crediting some o line guys as being good VERY prematurely

Meatsauce and his schtick is terrible. I like their game coverage and that’s about it.

Common man is equally hard to listen to.

I have problems with KFAN in general, but agree the Game Day package is so superior to what WCCO was doing.

The morning show sucks, PA sucks, and I can listen to Dan B a lot until he starts talking about COVID or politics. The Saturday with Sauce show is actually listenable.

Since I have been driving a lot recently to work locations I started listening to the Common Man after years, and I have to admit I actually appreciate his act a lot more than I used. to. You have to start by remembering that the guy considers himself to be a comedian, and a lot of his material is pretty good if you accept it as such.

Justin Gaard is especially annoying to me. They guy has very little talent and mainly exists due to his producing work for Barreiro, and side work like being the Gopher Football sideline reporter. When he subs for the whole show it totally boring and intolerable.

JG has the "Cake Show" for two full hours on Sundays 11-1 until the Vikings season starts, Being the longtime sideline reporter you would think today's show, with OSU looming, would have a very heavy Gopher Football focus, and it just sucked.

Maybe those podcast "kids" he teased for hour 2 talked only about Gopher Football, but I doubt it, and I quit and turned it off.

Instead of having on Ryan Burns, Ron Johnson or anyone on with Gopher input, he blathered on about nothing with the hockey guy, and a lot of Vikings talk. Screw that

Justin Gaard is a no talent (soon to again be a) fat ass hack.

I like Justin Gaard.
I think he does a good job and he's got some humor. He can at least carry a show.

Teena-B can not carry a show.

Hi Meatsauce.

You are not the only one. Personally....I love the Power Trip. For the exact reason why another poster already said they don't like it. 100% sports talk is BORING. I like that these guys will talk about whatever. It's really an entertainment show with a sports wrapper. The guys have great chemistry and each plays their part.
