I was thinking there was someway the Ducks could get left out IF:Good to know but somewhat inevitable to most all watching.
Probably not a lock but hard to leave an SEC or B1G team that makes conference championship out. They would have their second loss in an extra game played. Is making the Big Ten Championship Game an auto-bid?
The tweet says they are "locked into the playoff"
What if they got whooped by Washington then also got beat bad in the B1G title game? Or had something happen like FSU last season where their QB blows out a knee. Are they in CFP no matter what, even with 2 bad (theoretical) losses?
I agree. The B1G and SEC championship game participants are pretty much locks for CFP bids regardless.Probably not a lock but hard to leave an SEC or B1G team that makes conference championship out. They would have their second loss in an extra game played.
I think we knew it when they beat Ohio State.Good to know but somewhat inevitable to most all watching.
An SEC loser with 3 or 4 losses overall, I don't think would even nearly be a "lock".I agree. The B1G and SEC championship game participants are pretty much locks for CFP bids regardless.
I was thinking there was someway the Ducks could get left out IF:
Wash beat Ore
Ind lost to Oh St but beat Pur
Ohio St lost to Mich
Penn St beat Minn & Mary
That would mean a 3-way tie of Oregon, Indiana & Penn St, all with 1 loss and no head-to-head matchups.
Yea, I'll believe we're in when the final playoff spots are officially announced. We are officially in the B1G Championship game, that's all we've accomplished so far. Next is the huskies and that's always a war. And Lanning is 0-3 vs the huskies, I think he'll want this one bad.Is making the Big Ten Championship Game an auto-bid?

Historically, the championship game losers haven’t really moved down in the ratings, so I more think it depends on where the loser is rated before the game.An SEC loser with 3 or 4 losses overall, I don't think would even nearly be a "lock".
Wasn't Georgia #1 last year? They lost were on the outside looking in.Historically, the championship game losers haven’t really moved down in the ratings, so I more think it depends on where the loser is rated before the game.
I think if it’s a 5 way tie for the SEC title game it is possible one of the participants might be rated Low to start with
I think last year was the perfect storm:Wasn't Georgia #1 last year? They lost were on the outside looking in.
TCU the year prior also lost (in OT), but still made it.
Wow! Sorta like Minnesota and Bert prior to finally snuffing him out this year....except the Ducks are only a third of the way down Minnesota's now vanquished plight.Yea, I'll believe we're in when the final playoff spots are officially announced. Yea, he lost all three games by exactly 3 points each time.Wow! Sorta like Minnesota and Bert prior to finally snuffing him out this year....except the Ducks are only a third of the way down Minnesota's now vanquished plight.
Not sure what to think of Lanning but I do hope he wins vs Washington this time.
(I commented because I was surprised he's 0-3.). THX for the info
