Congrats to Adam Weber...

Congrats on 10000 yards Adam. Despite what these people think, i appreciate what you have done for our program.

I'm not wishing for anything Bayfield. I'm stating a fact...your response makes no sense.

I too can't wait for the season to be over....it's frustrating to sit in TCF Bank stadium every week and watch the same ineptness over and over and over again...watching Weber trot on to the field at the start of every game, makes my heart sink.....and I realize there is no hope......

The skipped balls and overthrows were tough to stomach today. cripes why so awful after 3 yrs?

It hurts me to say this because I am a huge Gopher football fan, but I cannot wait until this season is over. Only four games left to watch Adam Weber skip passes to his receivers, throw into triple coverage, throw behind receivers, and make one good throw out of ten so the people on gopherhole can lick his b*lls. You people don't see the big picture. You see his stats on the internet and think that he did a nice job. What you don't see is how inaccurate of a passer he is and how bad of a team leader he is. This is his 5th year and he still makes freshman mistakes. I am looking forward to next season; new coach, new attitude, and most importantly a new quarterback.

Yeah.. Can't wait either. Then we get to watch Gray skip passes to his WRs, throw into coverage or behind WRs, and then take off for a 15 yard for ANOTHER GOLDEN GOPHER FIRS-.. Oh, fumble.

Just another reason why you are sitting on the *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ing computer bitching because the team doesn't play ball the way you want it to and not actually out their making a name for yourself by using your obviously supreme football knowledge. You gutless death gargling wonder.

Weber getting to 10,000 yards is pretty meaningless. It's a testament to his durability for sure, but not much else.

Yeah. Meaningless. Only 4 other Big Ten QBs have EVER thrown for that many yards. One of which is NFL MVP and Super Bowl winning QB Drew Brees.

Meaningless.

Ditto Weber would be third string or a receiver in any other program big deal 5 years to enter the same numbers as others that played for 3!!!!!!

Depending on the other program. Top 10? Most likely. But otherwise, it's pretty much a wash. By the way, Weber has only played 4 years. Don't know where you got the idea that he had 5 years of playtime..

I was there today and also last week. And for South Dakota and No. Ill and many other games in the past four years. I see what you are seeing ... there is no doubt in most people's minds that Adam Weber is not the next Dan Marino. I saw the pick he threw today and other plays. But why can't there be a thread congratulating a kid on accomplishing something without half of the posts calling him a "turd." (Which is very original, by the way). Yes, its an individual accomplishment and hasn't correlated into winning. If Weber has hurt this program so much, then that's Brewster's fault and Mason's fault for not bringing in someone better. Or if they have, as many seem to suggest in Gray, then its the coaching staff's fault for not playing him.

.

What an incredible achievement!! For Adam Weber to surpass the 10,000 yard career mark for passing yardage as a Gopher QB, I offer my heartiest congratulations to him.

As a fellow Minnesotan, I'm both very impressed and proud of what he has accomplished.

Even more amazing is the way in which he has conducted himself, both on and off the field, over the past 5 years. Always humble, always classy, always articulate, always deflecting praise to players and coaches around him...

And unfortunately, always having to take a big bite out of that enormous $#!T sandwich he has been served since his redshirt freshman season at the 'U'....whether it's all the booing from the student section, or getting ripped on line, or the steady stream of offensive coordinators and ever-changing playbooks and coaching philosophies he's had to deal with.:rolleyes:

"Let's spread it out...no, I mean...let's pound the rock...no, I mean let's do this...no, I mean let's do that..."

In a few years, when the passage of enough time softens the harsh, local criticism that has been directed at Weber, we will all be proud to see him being introduced in the starting line-up on Monday Night Football..."ADAM WEBER, Quarterback, UNIVERSITY of MINNESOTA"...:)

 Please tell me you are joking and you are just trying to get me going. You don't actually think Weber is a good quarterback do you?

The fumbles, the bad interceptions, the overthrows, the inaccuracy!

Weber was horrible. He was so inaccurate. His receivers would jump in the air, stretch their arms as high as they could, and Weber's throws would still be six feet over their heads. Sometimes it was almost comical.

And to those of you who still refer to Weber and other gophers as kids, please grow up. Weber is 22 years old. He hasn't been a kid in a long time. And he plays for a major division 1 program, so he is subject to criticism just like any other sports player on a major level. It goes with the territory and he will have to understand that when he plays on a pro level (in Canada).

Seriously, I kept waiting for the punchline. Your take was so wrong I couldn't believe you were actually serious. I felt like I was watching the beginning of an SNL sketch and I kept waiting for the puchline. But you were actually serious.

Do you think Travaris Jackson is a great quarterback too? :cool02:

And please don't feel vindicated when some desperate NFL team gives Weber a brief look and a spot at camp. Yes, quality NFL quarterbacks are so scarce that someone might give Weber a roster spot for a year or two as a backup. But he won't do anything in the pros, just like he didn't do anything for the Gophers.

Yeah so humble and classy that he wishes he could be on jersey shore so he could fist pump more. Obviously when he embarrassed us students when he made this reference on the big screen at the SDSU game you either missed how big of a tool he appeared due to the generation gap, or were not at the game and therefore missed him losing to SDSU and that is why you think he should be congratulated.

tomdog - I think Weber has the arm strength, but I agree he does not have the accuracy. He also needs to learn to evaluate the field better, how many interceptions has he thrown to coverage, how many poor scrambles has he ran (and not realized he has Adrian Peterson's ball security when he does), how many open receivers has he not seen. When he gets pressure, he bounces around and can't evaluate his options for making a play... the list goes on

Also, if anyone watched Weber after he threw the interception today in the end zone, he sat back and watched Penn return it, didn't even bother to try and help his teammates block and fix his mistake, but rather he walked up to a Penn player, and pushed him as he was on his knees looking to stand up. Great example for our team. Oh, and this was minutes before the announcement.

I would also like to congratulate Adam on a 15-31 record as the starting Qb and soon to be 15-35. A record that MAY stand the test of all-time.

I still have not gotten an answer.
If he finishes with 35 losses, can any QB in college football history boast more losses as a starting QB?

The records are falling like nobodies even trying to stop him.

114 of his yards today came after the score was 33-14.

I'm happy for Weber that he got his 10k yards. Whatever people may think about his abilities as a quarterback, I'd like to commend him for conducting himself with a great deal of class throughout his Minnesota career. As others have mentioned he's had to put up with a lot of turbulence in his college football career and for the most part he hasn't complained about it.

Did you cry?

Yes,
I too want to say congrats to Adam Weber for having the highest amount of garbage time stats in the history of college football. How many touchdowns and yards has this turd thrown for when the game has been out of reach and the other team is playing their 2nd string offense? I will never in my life say that he was one of the greatest Big Ten quarterbacks or the best quarterback in Gopher history. He is lucky he had Brewster as a coach and went to the University of Minnesota, because any other coach or team would have benched his a** and found someone else. Weber you are brutal and will never be an NFL starting quarterback.

Tool

Great Agruement

Awesome comeback! Good job stating a case why you think Weber is a good quarterback.

This is nothing more than a product of AW being a 4 year starter on a lousy team that got blown out a lot and threw the ball during garbage time. You'll notice the 4 guys ahead of him were 3 year starters at the most, played on winning teams, and got pulled late in games when comfortably ahead.

Please. Your jealous and like many, have to blame someone for everything wrong.

I'd preface it a bit different. Congrats to all fans that had to put up with watching this D2 QB struggle through 4 unwatchable seasons in Gopher Football history and still remain loyal to the program. A few observations:

Weber is not a kid (I don't mind people criticizing him) He plays in a high-profile conference that people spend money to attend games. People in his position have endured much higher public preasure.
Weber will throw one good pass for every four bad ones.
Weber does have some talent but makes poor decisions on a regular basis.
Weber was dealt a bad hand with this administration but he is clearly too inconsistent to be considered good.

Nov 27th eve I celebrate. I now longer have to watch this silly offense. I don't have to play arm-chair QB as I watch one of the most useless defensive coordinators in NCAA football coach. If we hire a guy like Leach Weber's silly record will be a memory within 6 years.

I will give Weber credit...he has Brett Favre like toughness & has taken a lot of punishment these last four years. However I cannot wait until this entire Brewster-Weber nightmare is completely over...the countdown begins...only 4 games left Thank You Lord...

I call BS on you Art. This happened 3-4 times a year at most before big ten play. The gophers never had a big enough lead on a big ten team with the previous 4 guys to allow for the starter to be pulled. Even in some non-conference games they did not have a big enough lead to be pulled every time. Mason was never known for having a ready backup. When he did put a backup in they only threw the ball 3-4 times and ran the great majority of the time. When a team has a decent rushing attach most opposing defenses will stack the box with extra defenders leaving fewer defenders on the recievers making it easier to pass the ball. Our team did not have a decent rushing attach so there were extra defenders on the receivers making it difficult to find an open reciever. Not only that but our defense has been as bad if not worse than it has ever been and our line play was pretty bad the last couple of years too. He isn't the best we have had but he is not nearly as bad as most of the people here think.

Boy, I was totally red in the face when that came on, as was the rest of the student section. How embarrassing! A college student making a lousy Jersey Shore joke? The nerve of Adam Weber! Never in my days at the U have I seen anybody else make a Jersey Shore joke. Never. Not once. And to think he did so as a captain of the football team. What a terrible reflection on our fine university that our quarterback made a Jersey Shore joke. He should have quoted Kafka!

And somehow he lost us a game that we actually won against SDSU. What other quarterback could manage such a feat? Only Adam! (And Weber did single-handedly lose to South Dakota. You're right. That loss in no way was on the defense.)

Just think if we didn't waste the last four years with a quarterback who has such a propensity to make Jersey Shore jokes, thereby embarrassing the entire student section. At the very worst, we'd probably be ranked. Adam Weber was the ONLY thing keeping this team from success over his four years. Stellar D. Stellar running game. Good game plans and consistent coaching. Everything is on Weber.

I don't know Adam Weber but have always felt bad that a young man who has done his best gets so much hatred on this board. So I will offer up one positive for his 10,000 yards versus some of the others. He never got the opportunity to face a gopher defense and still got to 10,000 yards.

Wisconsin 2005 & FAU 2008 seem to disagree with you...

Just a note I made while watching the college highlight package this morning was the fact that one of the things Weber has never done well- if much at all- is hit a WR between the stomach and head, his passes have consistently been too low or above the WRs head throughout his career. It seems odd that no one was really able to correct this glaring flaw in Weber's accuracy and has been the killer of way too many drives throughout his Gopher career.

What game were YOU at? I didn't realize we played SDSU this year.

10,000 yards is impressive. It deserves a thumbs up.

For you "stat heads" out there, how does he stack up in terms of completion percentage, TD and INT with the other members of that club?
