Confirmation that Maturi is a PR disaster

Its a shame that Jerry Kill is taking bullets as a result of Maturi's incompetence!!
 

The other pitiful thing is they played the audio today of when Maturi announced Kill and when he announced Brewster as the new coach. The idiot Maturi gave the same statement for both coaches, that a wide net was cast and it kept coming back to Brewster/Kill. The idiot is too dumb to not even draft a new statement, simply erased Brewster's name and inserted Kill's.

As far as Maturi on the aspect of PR. He botched this entire hiring up. I am a big fan of Jerry Kill, but Maturi cut his legs from under him. If MAturi would have just said that "we are looking for a proven winner with head coaching experience who will come to MN and put together a staff and system that is fundamentally sound and hard working", he wouldn't have had 1/2 the backlash that he created for himself. All this JR High nonsense about a "Tubby-like" hire and "I can't believe HE'S interested" was buffoonish.

It's like he (Maturi) is always trying to prove he is doing a good job. It's Jerry Kill's day. If you can't say anything positive about the program moving forward, just STFU and go home.

Beyond all that, why even bring this up? It's just stupid and pointless to be broaching topics like that right now, and in my opinion somewhat disrespectful of Kill. It seems a really pathetic attempt at trying to deflect criticism or make some kind of defense of his hire, which is just queer. You got your coach, now stand behind the guy and shut the hell up already.

I cannot wait until this nitwit is out of here permanently.
 



I can't believe Maturi actually recycled an introductory speech. That's about like something Michael Scott from The Office would do. I can't even think of a word to describe such a thing, it's just like wow, man. It is so lame and just so incredibly sorry that it just boggles my brain.

What, you couldn't be bothered to formulate the effort to sit down for 20 minutes and write a proper introduction that reflects the personal and professional respect that your new coach absolutely deserves? :confused:

Sounds like everyone is really happy with our guy, JM. I don't hate the Kill hire, don't love it, but Maturi needs to go. This chump is hurting the credibility of our athletics department with each passing day.

President Kaler, please speak up and get this clown out of here before our athletics department regresses into a High School program. President Bruininks has some sort of shady allegiance to Maturi, it's really disgusting and selfish.

To be fair according to the radio clip on the radio from a interview with Maturi it wasn't word for word but he did re-use the same lines about casting a wide net and the search kept coming back

I very much feel for Coach Kill getting hired as our new head coach at a BCS school. A job he said he's worked 17 years towards. A job that may be the pinnacle of his career. And then, on the day he's introduced, his new boss blindsides him and basically says he's not the kind of coach he may have wanted to hire.

Please President Bruininks, show this buffoon the door. You can get an interim AD to run the department until President Kaler hires a his own.

his own a$$ for the heat that comes from hiring a third tier coach. "Hey its not my fault we ended up with Kill. I knew we weren't going to get much, but I tried. Remember when I said we were going for a Tubby Smith hire? I tried. It's not my fault."

The thing is, he didn't try. After putting up with Brewster's disrespect, Maturi wanted a guy who would be so happy to get this job that he would kiss Joel's behind forever. From the press conference and team meeting videos, it looks like he got his man.

Respectfully disagree. The right AD would've sold the university properly, and if the $$ one coach close to a candidate told me -- $21 mil. over 8 years -- was right, Stoops, Tedford, someone from a BCS school would've left for here.
 

Heck, Maturi and Mona couldn't even get travel right... multiple private planes were available for use, and they flew commercial to San Diego.

Unf'ing believable the guy talks about his "understanding Minnesota" "not being boastful" mentions the lack of success an how "hard it is to win at Minnesota". Hey Joel the states that surround you are having the BEST success in their programs history while we've won nothing under your leadership.
