I just read Adam Rittenberg's piece (which I see you already have a thread on) and he has some good ideas and makes some good points. But his article, much like every other article I have read on the topic, makes assumptions about what the fans of each team prefer. In an effort to find out if these assumptions are true I am undertaking a study of each fan base to find out which rivalries they want to protect and which games don't matter as much.

I hope to compile the results and develop an alignment which can satisfy each of the fan bases in the Big Ten.

If you would be so polite, please rank the teams from 1-11 (including Nebraska) with 1 being the team/game that is most important to you as a Gopher fan and 11 being the team/game that matters the least. I've even provided a handy template for you to use.

Recently, that is true. We have won six of the last eight games. However, MSU leads the series with a record of 25-17, and Minnesota was 0-17 against MSU between 1977 and 1997.

I don't think basketball comes into play here at all. They will all continue to play each other at least once, and because basketball already had an end-of-season tournament, the need for divisions just isn't the same.
