Come on.Big 10 Network

I still chuckle when they show ancient Penn State and Nebraska victories (and now Maryland and Rutgers) and claim them as Big Ten triumphs.

Is it worth catering to a couple fanbases?

It's all Iowa programming today. It's all Illinois programming tomorrow. It was all Nebraska programming on Sunday. It was all Minnesota programming on Saturday. It was all Wisconsin programming last Friday. It was all Northwestern programming last Thursday.

What was your point again?

I don't think 'chuckle' is the term I would use.

This is some really poor analysis. The MN market is small compared to the national market they're really catering to. You think NYC cares about MN vs. Arkansas? What about West Coast audiences? Say what you want but I'd be very surprised if The Game didn't get higher ratings in MN than a significant proportion oh MN B1G games during the regular season right in our own state.

yes but really how many Californian's want to see the Buckeyes play Wisconsin? seriously maybe you and about a dozen others. NY wouldn't give two hookers to watch that game either.

now i will say they would also not want to watch a MN or a ILL or a Purdue game either. its a regional game Just like i really don't care to watch UCLA play anyone either.

if you want to build a demand in your target market you start with the power houses which they have done and now they should be working on getting more viewership in the smaller markets where they could get market share (albeit a smaller number but a large share would boost advertising)

this isn't building Amusement parks but if you want to strengthen your brand within your markets it would be best if they don't forget some of the other markets with their schedule.

Let's be honest, BTN is largely irrelevant to most viewers from March 15th to September 1st. I've watched maybe 10 minutes of it since March. It'll be one of my 3 most watched channels from September-March. It's all about the live content. Which re-runs they show in July means almost nothing. OSU and Michigan bring in some small fractional increase in viewers, so they get more time.

Yep. Love the BTN from mid August to the end of the NCAA tourney. With live telecasts and in-depth pre- and post-game coverage they cover the money-makers (FB and MBB) very well. It's right there with the Mother Ship channels on my speed dial. Continue to do that and they can run whatever re-runs they want from April to mid August.
