There’s plenty of optimism surrounding the Minnesota Gophers men’s hockey season. One of its former players says with 11 new players, it might take some time to get on the same page.

Speaking during the first official team practice on Tuesday afternoon, Pat Micheletti says the team has a lot of potential as it is prepares to play its last season on Olympic-size ice at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

“Speed, Skill, you know, up front and on the back,” Micheletti tells Jess Myers of The Rink Live. “You know what I really liked, they had a lot of talent, and a lot of guys will be pushing each other and I think that's what they're going to need to deliver on the season.”

Micheletti, who played four seasons with the Gophers in the early 1980s before a short stint with the Minnesota North Stars, says all those new players have so much to adjust to, both on and off the ice.

“Come January, February, it's going to be a different team,” he says.

Go Gophers!!
