College Basketball 2021-2022 Thread

I can't believe I took UCLA +7. FACK. The worst gambling experience is games like these when you're on the wrong side
Based on last year, I would have too. But something changed since they met last.

Huh? They are literally the exact same team ha. People overrated them because of the march run but they were an 11 seed. Same team, same talent, same coach, same inconsistencies. Also Gonzaga is good so
Yeah, ok. I was wrong about "the year" part. I meant "the tournament ending" But thank god you got to get a smart ass comment in there that served no purpose. Good for you.

Holmgren adds so much defensive intimidation for Gonzaga. UCLA is scared to take it down low. 1-11 on layups!

I think that's it. He is thin, but that doesn't mean anything when he can reach across the whole floor. Different makeup from last year. Sarcastically I'll say Suggs was the weak link. Chet is a game changer.

Chet is a unicorn for sure

And if you look at him, you wonder how he doesn't fall down in a brisk wind. But WOW! He is something. In my very limited knowledge, this Gonzaga team looks a better than last year, and I think he is the most important change. I know Suggs was incredible, but maybe just the total makeup of the team looks special. Of course this is only one game.

Friday night will probably be my 2nd time ever rooting for Duke, after the 2015 national championship.

Chet is incredible, you couldn't dream up a player like that.

This Cincinnati/Arkansas game is awfully good. Razorbacks with a one point lead and the ball....with approximately 50 second remaining....managed to get TWO offensive rebounds and possess the ball with enough time to run the clock out. Put themselves in to foul territory. Looks like they are going to pull it out.

Nembhard has been outstanding too. I think with Kispert gone, he will shine this year.

Gonzaga and UCLA facing off in Las Vegas tonight (9 o'clock)
Big Ten
Wisconsin against #12 Houston in Vegas
Northwestern taking on Georgia in Newark
Illinois against Kansas State in Kansas City
Indiana at home against Jackson State
Nebraska at home versus Tennessee State
The Gophers are no longer the worst rated Ken Pom team in the B1G thanks to Nebraska’s close game against Tennessee State.

The top 10 B1G teams are in the top 42 and the last 4 are in a fairly tight grouping:

90. Penn State
94. Rutgers
96. Minnesota
100. Nebraska

Let’s hope the Gophers can keep working their way up the rankings for a few more weeks.

Gonzaga looks like OSU football offense. Be interesting when the shots don't fall for a 5 minute span, but right now they look good.
scary part is they did go almost 5 minutes with no points in the late middle of the first half and still scored 45.

Holy cow, Chet is thin. I turned on the game and lucked out for 5% of the game that wasn't a commercial and saw him score, then foul somebody before another commercial. Did get to hear Dickie V say how much tougher he is than what he looks.
He also called him frail, being not more than a couple weeks off of chemo himself.

Big Ten today

Michigan State against Loyola Chicago in the Bahamas
Wisconsin versus St Mary's in Vegas
Michigan at home against Tarleton in a much anticipated match up
Ohio State and Florida in Ft Meyers
and Gophers Dolphins at the Barn

Early Leaders

Ochai Agbaji Kansas 26.3 PPG (Roddy sitting at 24.2)
Taran Armstrong California Baptist 9.2 APG (From Tasmania. Wonder what his nickname will be? His 5-0 squad will face Carr's Texas team tonight @ Texas)
Oscar Tshiebwe Kentucky 16 RPG
Obinna Anochili-Killen Marshall 6 BLKPG (Holmgren with 21 total now, I believe.)
Dayvion McKnight W Kentucky 3.8 STPG (He decided to score more than steal in the Gopher game.)

MSU is looking like complete trash right now. After Loyola Chicago took the lead 20-19 with about 6:30 remaining in the half.....MSU had SIX straight possessions with turnovers and no shots. Just look junky right now.

I watched my first in person NCAA basketball game yesterday since February, 2020. Gustavus @ St Olaf.

A lot of brick work early in the game, Oles pulled ahead by 8 in the 2nd half but Gustavus closed it to 55-54 and had the ball late. St Olaf got steal and dunk with 10 seconds left. Gusties worked it for a wide open 3 to try to force OT but it hit iron. Oles 57 - Gusties 54.

After attending a TWolves game last week, this really felt like a different sport.

Also noticed this, Mac had to forfeit vs Concordia last night. Rules are rules, but at D3 feels like the MIAC should allow the game to be made up if all parties agree.

Contest could be made up in the future, but it would be as a non-conference game:

wisconsin getting every call early. St Mary's looks like a pretty good team.

holy god this officiating in St Mary's Wisconsin is atrocious. Good fundamental basketball but jesus the officials need to get their shit together

weird how yet another davison flop goes the badgers way. i would say unbelievable, but kind of just par for the course at this point.

there was absolutely 0 chance St mary’s was gonna win. Must be nice to have a close game as a Wisconsin fan, just sit back, relax, and watch whatever bullshit falls your way this time.
