Wow. Lot's of hatred.
Hate to be the lone dissenter but I'm a huge fan. Yes, he comes across as a front runner but he tells it like it is; the NBA IS more interesting and more relevant when the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Bulls are good. There are fewer people watching the NBA Finals if it's Memphis against Portland than there are if it's Lakers-Bulls. There are fewer people watching the Rose Bowl if it's Northwestern against Oregon State than there are if it's USC-Michigan.
One of the things he speaks to regularly is that fans are to some extent hypocritical; You say you want parody, upsets, and the triumph of the little guy. But TV and media ratings don't lie; As painful as it sounds, people pay more attention to sports when teams like Duke, Michigan, the Yankees, the Lakers, and USC are relevant and successful.
People say they love the NCAA tournament because of the upsets by the little guy but he's right; when teams like George Mason and Butler are in the Final Four instead of Kansas and Kentucky and Duke, fewer people watch. It's a fact.
Cowherd is only a few years older than me and I agree (albeit sometimes reluctantly) with 90% of what he says. He knows his stuff, he does his homework, and he doesn't apologize. People hate hearing the truth, that's why "the truth hurts". His show is about ratings and he knows more than ANYBODY what drives ratings. He flat out talks about it more than anybody else. He knows people care more about the NFL than MLB baseball, even in March and April; he knows 95% of fans are lunatics, idiots and "fan"-atics and he calls them out about it.
I think the deal about the website(s) is that because so many listen to his show, there have been times when just mentioning somebody's website has caused such a rush that smaller servers can't handle the traffic and have crashed. As a result, he usually prefaces most mentions of smaller websites with something to the effect of "don't all go rushing there at once."
