Coach 'coached in last 2 days'

There's still enough possibilities there that could make us cringe. Bobby Hauck anyone? ;)

I actually like Hauck, maybe not for our job right now but so far as coaching potential goes. This season is basically a wash, as he stepped into a true corpse of a football program at UNLV. He might struggle for a bit longer as he attempts to reanimate that corpse, but I still believe he might become quite a good coach at the FBS level based on what he did at Montana. He did a hell of a job out there, seven Big Sky conference championships in seven years and three appearances in the 1-AA/FCS national championship game.

I'd love you to be right. But UVa took the $3 million they offered Tubby and offered it to him. They got nowhere. I can't imagine it changed that much in a year. You never know, I guess.

I probably am wrong, but it makes some sense in my maroon and gold colored world. I think Petey felt that he had a national champ contender this year so it was easy to pass on UVa. However, he likely realized over the course of this season that a Boise team needed all the breaks and a perfect season to even get a sniff. I know that would wear on me after a while. With Boise's move to a tougher conference next season, there is no guarantee they'll continue with the same level of success. Now would be the time to go. A Big Ten program that has a chance to make strides up the ladder could be a great gig if the money is right.

Again, this probably only makes sense to me since I'm a gopher fan. Hahaha

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I'm sticking with my Petersen call. There is nowhere left for him to go at Boise. This year was his chance. If he's going to move up, he needs to strike while the iron is hot.

Petersen is an interesting angle in that this was probably Boise's best shot at the NC game. With TCU, Utah and BYU leaving the MWC makes the move to the conference less appealing than when the move was made. for him this might just be the time to move on?

I like MV. He and Doogie are the best in the "media" with respect to the Gophers. But why believe him when he has given no source, or hinted at what his source might be?

Edsall is the best we can hope for amongst the coaches from the last two days.

Sorry, but these teaser posts really do nothing for me. It may or may not be true.

Mike Haywood. Minnesota ties as a graduate assistant way back when and took that Miami-Ohio squad from 1-11 last season to conference champs this year. wouldn't be my choice but wouldn't be surprised if it was choice Maturi made.

It actually says "Just got word that the next #Gophers coach is in fact coaching in the last 2 days and will inform his team in the AM." No past tense.

Of course plenty of coordinators in the mix too.

I still say Tedford.

I apologize for my awful wording of the tweet. Word I received was coach's team played today or yesterday.

the big thing that changed is that their big move the to mwc just backfired and boise has nowhere else to go in terms of aq options. this could be the time for an upward move, albeit in this case downward, to a bcs conference team with potential to build something. you never know...:)

Agree with BSU and their options and how that may push Petersen elsewhere - hopefully Minn. and not Miami. Riley is still a possibility. I'd be extremely happy with Mullen, Riley, or Petersen and yes I know Miss. St. didn't play yesterday or today.

Mullen is my first choice amongst the guys that have been rumored, but after that doesn't Gus Malzahn make the most sense. He is really similar to where Mullen was two years ago. He is a hot shot offensive coordinator that has built awesome offenses and done well everywhere he's gone.

I really have a hard time believing they've hired someone. If they had, it would be leaked in about 10 minutes in that program. They don't exactly have a Fort Knox track record. I don't buy it.

I don't know, I would say that they've been pretty good at keeping secrets. The Tubby and Brew hiring came out of nowhere. (The Brew firing, not so much).

I have a pretty good source inside who's heard nothing - just that there are rumors out there on GI.

The sources in my head are telling me unless JM wants information to be leaked it should be met with skepticism.

We all pretty much guessed that whoever we get was coaching this week. Maybe FBT just took what we all thought and turned it into tweet. Also, I don't think it would be Miami Ohio's coach because our search started almost 2 months ago and his resume didn't look nearly as good then as it does now. I just hope it's not Edsall because his Big East conference record of 21-26 is a huge turn off for me. Just hoping its Petersen... FlightAware anyone???

No, he's not. I count about 5 gettable assistant coaches I'd rather have.

I was only talking about head coaches and that's when i thought Peterson wasn't a possibility.

It's one thing when the coaching search takes me away from my work, but now it's taken over my social life (...) Sitting on my laptop on a saturday night re-reading Chris Peterson's wikipedia page, thinking what - if...

been there...

They did talk to Belotti and it may have been more about Petersen, one of his protege, rather than him. I really hope it's not Kill. There's something about that guy I don't like and his health problems make him a big risk.

It's quite funny (and sad, really) when a grown man like myself sees the Petersen rumors and goes into "I hope I was right!" mode. This has all been fun, but I can't wait for it to be over.

Chris Petersen would be a dream-come-true type of hire! I have trouble wrapping my head around the enormity of it! If the "coached in the last 2 days" statement is a fact, how many candidates are out there that would be acceptable to the masses...Petersen, Edsall (sounds like not), Kill (sounds like not), Spurrier, Pat Hill, Haywood (not), Chip Kelly (not a chance that's gonna happen), Chizik (ditto there), Mike Riley, Lane Kiffin (no thanks), Mike Stoops...who else? It appears its Petersen or bust!

I see Hawaii's playing. Maybe it's Gordy Shaw.

I keed. I keed.
