per the Plain Dealer's "Outrageous Predictions" column:
Doug Lesmerises says that Minnesota running back David Cobb will be held to fewer than 50 rushing yards
Cobb ranks ninth in the nation, averaging 133.9 rushing yards per game. Against Middle Tennessee, San Jose State, Michigan and Purdue, Cobb averaged 33 carries and 201 rushing yards per game. Those teams are a combined 16-22.
Against 8-1 TCU, Cobb carried the ball 15 times for 41 yards and didn't have a run longer than 14 yards.
The Horned Frogs are the comparison for the Buckeyes, not the rest of the Golden Gophers' schedule. Cobb has 1,205 rushing yards this season, which already topped his 1,202 total of a year ago. Though Michigan State's Jeremy Langford ran for 137 yards against the Buckeyes last week, Cobb won't do much because Minnesota doesn't have a passing game to threaten the Buckeyes and get them to back off stopping the run.
Ari Wasserman says Ohio State will score more than 50 points
After Ohio State moved the ball up and down the field with ease against Michigan State – the best team the Buckeyes will face during the regular season this year – it's hard to imagine that Minnesota's defense is going to slow it down.
This has been a very popular outrageous prediction for me, and aside from the Penn State, it has come true most of the time.
Barring a snowstorm, I think the Buckeyes drop 50 as they continue their quest up the College Football Playoff poll.
