Tracy Claeys
• Jalen Myrick - he got out of the hospital in the last 30 minutes, he's improved. At least they got him situated and is on his way back. I was told 3-4 weeks he should be back to ok. By all likelihood, he'll be done for the rest of the season.
• Our kids showed up on defense and competed. If you would have told me we'd play this good without Travis…the good thing is, except for the one week, we've stayed pretty healthy at linebacker. We can't afford to have another slip up like we did against Nebraska.
• On contract - I haven't heard, I'm hopeful we'll hear something this week. This Floyd of Rosedale is a pretty big deal.
• What happened last week has no impact on what happens this week. I'm a big believer that previous games have nothing to do with this week's game.
• Iowa has gotten back to what they've done in the past, offensively, they haven't changed a lot. Their QB is more athletic, can make more play with his legs. I think their tailback is playing really well. They've stayed pretty healthy. There's no question there more of a complete team, this is a typical Iowa team, they don't make a lot of mistakes.
• Advantages of a 3rd straight night game? Because we got back so late, it's good to not have a morning game to regenerate your batteries again. There's a lot more excitement around night games, as a Coach, you don't get much time to recover. I'm a big fan of night games.
• I don't think our kids have ever doubted Mitch, he works hard at practice, he got beat up. He hasn't taken nearly as many hits.
• We have to find a way to do better than we did against OSU last week. We'll take whatever they give us, if they give us the run, you've got to be able to run it.
• On running backs - we'll let everyone know Weds. When we get back, where we're at. Rodrick Williams will still be in the mix, if we get the others back, they'll be banged up.
• On the running game, if he's confident in it - I'm always a confident guy.

Matt Limegrover:
• On Leidner taking the shots he does - hard to explain, he's a tough guy. There's no two ways about it. He's a guy that loves the weight room, Coach Kill had to scale down because he was getting too big and stiffening up, he's learned a lot last year. He never wants to come off the field, you have to grab him and pull him out of there. He's feeling good right now. There's a hidden component, when a guy is confident and in the zone, not just when he's throwing the football, but when he's controlling the huddle. He has great awareness.
• A lot of our short passing game is as good as a run. five yard gain is a five yard gain. You never got broke taking a profit, so if you can get those 5 yards, that's the ultimate goal at the end of the day. We'd like to run the ball better, but what Mitch is doing now, and KJ Maye and Brandon Lingen, they're opening it up. They're going to keep daring us to throw the football, and with each week, we get more comfortable with it.
• On Tyler Moore - I really think sky's the limit for him, not only is he going to grow physically, but he thirsts for knowledge.
• Wolitarsky puts his work in, and our youngers guys can look up to him, Carter and KJ, and their work ethic is rubbing off on Melvin Holland and others.
• It's always a challenge, you're a back in our offense, you're going to get carries, but you're going to take hits. Coach Poore has made sure he hasn't overburned one. Come Saturday, they're ready to rock. Tracy mentioned something about Rodrick Williams, he's a guy that could have a secret weapon type of attributes.
• Optimistic about getting anyone back on the O-Line? I'm always optimistic. I take it day by day. At the same time, the guys that we've had have been warriors and have fought their tail ends off. If they tell me someone's healthy, we'll roll, but otherwise, like in Hoosiers, that's my team out there.

Of course Myrick is probably done for the year. I wouldn't expect anything different.

As always, thanks GL!

Interesting comments on Mitch getting too stiff.

Not a few players lift too many weights.

The amount of injuries has gone from unprecedented to completely ludicrous

The rumor is he has a contract in hand and they are hammering out the details or whatever it is they do.

So after Claeys goes back with his changes, the U should sign it sometime next fall - based on historical data.

I'm confused maybe someone can clear it up for me. I was always under the impression that legally we had to have some sort of interview process and officially post the job. I'm assuming this is incorrect if we are in fact on the verge of coming to a deal with Claeys?

You are incorrect sir. The Pres said they could hire without a full search.

Most would agree that the top seven defensive backs coming into the season were Murray, BBC, Thompson, Travis, Myrick, James and Rogers. Assuming Rogers, Travis, Myrick, and James don't play the rest of the regular season, and the other three guys do play the rest of the way, this group will have missed a combined 32 games this year. That is nearly 40%.

My guess is the OL will end up pretty similar to this by the end of the season as well.

I think you can hire in-house without a search. They couldn't say, hire Mason right now, without a full job posting
and interview process..

Is anyone back this week?

That is pretty devastating number. Of all the position groups, defensive backfield probably had the most depth going into this season. The young guys have stepped up well.

In my opinion, this is huge. Throwing it up almost 40 times a game for 3 games in a row will pay dividends down the stretch and into next year for the confidence of Mitch and the receiving group as a whole.

Iowa is tough to figure, defensively, as far as strengths and weaknesses. They've had games in which they've given up big yards through the air, and ones in which they've given up big yards on the ground. Not sure what to expect for the Gophers on Saturday.

Saw this on twitter. He later says this doesn't even include backups like Ace Rogers who would be starting if they were healthy.
